A Note from the Executive Director
Deja vu is a feeling we all can probably relate to as September dawns. The surge of the Delta variant is, I am sure, on all of our minds, and other than offering the resources of NMASBHC as always, I struggle to find words of hope to share. That being said, I know that the health care and education warriors with whom we partner must be exhausted. So, I am going to lazily lean on the words of Martin Luther King Jr. below. Please just know that we see your work and know that you are stars for children's health.
Wishing you strength and health,

Nancy Rodriguez, nancy@nmasbhc.org

NMPED Releases New Back-to-School Guidance
On August 24, 2021, NMPED issued their latest Back-to-School Toolkit and Mask Guidance for Schools as students and staff return to in-person learning. Most SBHCs already have policies in place to continue to provide excellent quality healthcare for students. However, these new guidelines may impact current practice.

Thank you for your support of students and schools, particularly in this challenging environment! Let us know if you have questions or need support with back-to-school launch.
Apex Data Hub Web App has Arrived!
We are pleased to announce recent updates to the Apex Data App that will enable patients and providers to access Just Health and other screening tools via the web. New Mexico SBHCs that already use Just Health will receive this upgrade at no cost. See below for important information about this upgrade:

  1. Apex is giving access to this tool now to allow you to explore the tool and become familiar with the features. Please do not use the web capability with your patients until you receive more information from Apex Support.
  2. If you have not already received it, look for an email invitation from support@apexeval.org to set up your account to access Apex Data App from the web.
  3. Schedule your training to learn more about how to use the web app.
  4. Explore this feature and reference these resources to learn more.
  5. If you have any questions, please contact us at support@apexeval.org.

Coming Soon: Apex is developing a cross-platform application for iOS and Android, so that screening tools taken from devices will sync to the web app. Alert reports can be viewed, downloaded, and attached to EHRs from the web app even if they were completed on an iPad or other tablet. We will provide more information and support once the cross-platform app is ready.

Planning a Youth Vaccination Event?
Help is Available!
New Mexico's school-age immunization rates are lower than in past, thanks to the pandemic. NMDOH and the Medicaid Managed Care Organizations are working hard to support summer-time events to ensure children get back on schedule with required immunizations. If your clinic or organization wishes to plan a special immunization event, the MCOs are willing to help and can send out outreach teams in person. Please let NMASBHC know if you need that support, and we'll connect you to the appropriate staff at Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, Presbyterian, and/or Western Sky Community Care.
