Join us for breakfast every
Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM
As we are in this time of rest during the summer months, our news and upcoming events tend to slow down. Please join us in learning about Sunday School classes! Each week we will highlight a new one until we get through all of them, bringing us close to the fall.

Our Sunday School classes begin around 9:45am, after breakfast.
Family Matters
Our class has been meeting for many years. The class was started when our children were pre-school age. Now, with a few exceptions our children are out of the house, many are married and have their own children.

We primarily study scripture, but we do study other topics like the origin and meaning of old hymns that we grew up singing. During the church year, we use study materials on Lent, Easter, Advent and other topics.

Currently, we are studying the book of Luke. We started with Luke 9:51 where Luke stated that Jesus realized that the time had come for Him to return to the glory of the Father (Mark 16:19, Act 1:2, I Timothy 3:16). Luke maintained that Jesus “steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem” (KJV). This was the beginning of the last year of the ministry of Jesus leading to his Crucifixion and Resurrection. We are studying the parables, miracles and interaction that Jesus had with the Pharisees along the way.

We meet in the CAC – Room 201. We try to start around 9:45 with prayer requests and praises. Our meeting is available via zoom, if you desire to join us that way.

Staff Parish Update
David Hartley is Retiring
It is bittersweet that we are announcing David Hartley’s retirement from his position at Lakewood United Methodist Church. I’m sure there is not one person here who has not seen David hard at work cleaning our campus, helping in the kitchen, setting up tables, working outdoors, etc. While David has officially retired from his maintenance position, I’m sure he will not stop volunteering his time and talents. We want to celebrate David who has been on staff with us since June 1, 1987. Over the next two Sundays, we will have a collection basket in the Fellowship Hall during the breakfast time (9-9:45am) for persons to share cards and sentiments for him. Also, take time to pray that he and Ellen enjoy this next stage of life with their children and grandchildren.
