The daily COVID-19 case rates have increased 47% across the state since Thanksgiving, and masking is again required for all public indoor settings in California, regardless of vaccination status.
The California Department of Public Health also recommends that all travelers arriving in California test for COVID-19 within three to five days after arrival, regardless of their vaccination status.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said vaccines remain the best public health measure to protect people from COVID-19, slow transmission, and reduce the likelihood of new variants emerging. Vaccines are available and recommended by the CDC for everyone over age 5.
And in addition to adults, the COVID-19 vaccine booster shot is now recommended for everyone over 16 years old, according to the CDC.
