Important tournament day updates

Block schedule and room assignments - second draft

Our website now includes the second draft of our Block Schedule and room assignments. There are just a few small changes in room assignments. Times have remained the same. Click on the Competition Day Materials button on the main web page..

Let us know about conflicts

New this year: Typically we resolve any time conflicts on tournament day, but we will do our best to resolve them ahead of time if we can. Look on the web page for a form where you can notify us.

Talks & Tours

We still have a few slots in the Talks & Tours. These are posted on the Competition Day Materials page on the MTSO website. The Competition day web page has some alternate things to do on campus if you don’t sign up for a talk or tour. If you sign up for one, please be considerate and notify us or the presenter if you are unable to make it

Scilympiad

If you haven’t yet made an account in Scilympiad, please do so ASAP (or log in to your previous account). If you are making a new coach account, it takes us a little while to attach your team number to your account; once we have done that, you can input your students’ names and assign them to events. All Scilympiad instructions are on the School Coaches and Teams page.

Please bring us a printed copy of your roster

Although we have asked you to enter your students' names and events in Scilympiad, it will be really helpful if you bring us a printed copy of your team roster when you check in, either at the Museum of the Rockies STEM Night or on tournament day. We use this to cross-check in case a student forgets to put their name on a test. If you have more than one team, please bring a separate sheet for each team. Put your name, your school, your team number, and your cell phone on there, too. Thanks!

Opening Ceremony

Our keynote speaker for the opening ceremony is palentologist and former Science Olympian Ashley Hall who has worked at the La Brea Tar Pits and the Los Angeles Zoo before joining the Museum of the Rockies outreach team. You will definitely enjoy her presentation, so be sure to join us for the opening ceremony at 7:45 in SUB Ballrooms!

Parking - very important

Buses: Due to ongoing construction and university in session, we are unable to offer onsite parking for school buses this year. We have reserved bus parking at Gallatin County Fairgrounds. As a courtesy, we will offer shuttle service for the bus drivers back to the SUB in the morning and from the SUB to the fairgrounds in the afternoon. Bozeman's Streamline transit also has a stop at the fairgrounds if your bus drivers prefer to travel around town to the mall, downtown, and other points of interest. We are working on a detailed map for team drop-off at MSU in the morning.

School vans: Vans clearly labeled with school logo/markings may park in a special lot at MSU; map is coming.

Private vehicles (including cars not labeled as school vehicles and all spectators) must follow MSU visitor parking regulations.  You may want to download the Passport app ahead of time in order to streamline payment. There is no free parking on campus for more than 30 minutes.

We look forward to seeing you soon! Please contact us if you have any questions or need help: mtscioly@montana.edu
