Parent Edition
May 13, 2021

Please note that our Return to Learn Plan is an addendum to our Student Handbook. You are reminded of the following procedures for Quarantine:

Quarantine
IF A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER OF A STUDENT OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS WAITING FOR RESULTS, THE STUDENT OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE MUST QUARANTINE AND MAY NOT COME TO SCHOOL UNTIL THE RESULTS ARE KNOWN AND THE SCHOOL NURSE HAS GRANTED PERMISSION TO RETURN.

When informed an immediate household member has been tested, the student or staff who resides in the same home will quarantine until the result of the test is confirmed negative. If the result of the immediate household member's test is positive, the student or staff member who resides in the same home will quarantine for 10 days.

Students or staff who may have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 10 days, even if the student or staff tests negative or feels healthy since symptoms may appear 2 to 10 days after exposure to the virus. Please see the latest criteria from the Centers for Disease Control on "exposure" and "quarantine."

You have the option of having your student get a COVID test on day 7 after exposure and they may return to school and activities earlier IF there is a negative result on that test. Proof of the negative result must be sent to the school nurse at sdeluca@yorkcatholic.org. Please note that the test date cannot be earlier than 7 days after exposure.

If your student has been fully vaccinated and is 2 weeks past their last COVID vaccine, they do not need to quarantine. Proof of the vaccination dates must be sent to the school nurse at sdeluca@yorkcatholic.org.

Please be reminded, if a student tests positive for COVID-19, families are obligated to inform the school for the health and safety of the entire school community. This applies even when we are not in person or in session.

Any student or staff member who is required to quarantine must notify the following:

School Nurse:  sdeluca@yorkcatholic.org

Attendance Office:  attendance@yorkcatholic.org
Thank you for Supporting YC through
Give Local York
York Catholic High School is so appreciative of your support during Give Local York. You’ve helped us raise $14,470.46. This is phenomenal!

Because of your generosity, YC is able to invest in tuition assistance for those in need, a vibrant curriculum, technology upgrades, the arts and athletics, resources for our valued teachers, and the beautification and safety of our school.

Thank you again for your support of York Catholic High School!
Looking for a Tax Break?
York Catholic is excited to share some information with you that is sure to change how you view paying your state and federal taxes each year!

If you pay personal state income taxes, you now have the opportunity (whether filing individually or jointly) to choose how these taxes are spent each year by joining a Special Purpose Entity (SPE). SPEs are based on tax liability, not income, therefore each taxpayer’s situation will differ. An individual or couple filing jointly must have a state tax liability of $3,500 or more to participate. To see if you qualify for 2021, you can find your PA tax liability on Form PA-40 Line 12 of your 2020 tax return.

You could receive at least a 10% deduction on your personal federal taxes each year, so why not have your personal state income taxes serve as tuition assistance funds, allowing more students to thrive at York Catholic High School?
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please follow these steps:

All SPE funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so NOW is the time to submit your Joinder Agreement for the 2021 Tax Year!

For more information about this easy tax donation, please contact Katie Seufert, York Catholic Principal, at kseufert@yorkcatholic.org.
Refer a Friend to YC
If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education. Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.  In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click below to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the box below and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture, and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!

Missions Collection
"It seems hard to believe that there are still billions of people who have not yet heard the ‘Good News’ of Jesus. That is why the Pontifical Mission Aid Societies exist in the Church; namely, to promote mission awareness among the baptized and support for the spread of the Gospel. The Diocese of Harrisburg has been blessed with generous and faithful people who respond with sacrificial generosity to these mission aid societies. Since the Missions Office began in the diocese in 1924, countless missionaries have benefited from the prayers and support offered year after year. Thank you for answering the call to the ‘missionary spirit’ through your support of this holy work of the Church."
~Reverend Robert F. Sharman, Diocesan Director, Office of Pontifical Missions

Our YC Missions Collection during homeroom on Wednesday, May 18, will support the Harrisburg Diocesan efforts on behalf of the Pontifical Mission Societies which include: The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, The Missionary Childhood Association, The Society of St. Peter Apostle, and The Missionary Union of Priests and Religious. The Societies gather basic support for more than 1,150 mission territories in Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands, Latin America, and some parts of Europe, including clinics, orphanages, and schools where the poorest of the poor receive an education, health care, and come to know the reason for all our hope. The Societies also provide support for 80,000 seminarians and for the training of 9,000 religious Sisters and Brothers. From South Sudan to Western Samoa, Syria to Saigon, the Pontifical Mission Societies are on the front lines where God’s people are suffering.

Marching Band Auditions
Any student who is registered for the 2021-2022 school year at York Catholic, is a musician, dancer, or interested in color guard, should sign up for Marching Band!

YC students who are instrumentalists need to play at least at an intermediate level. Students who are new to York Catholic need to audition in person or provide an audition recording. The audition will require the student to play two different scales of their choice and a selection from a private lesson piece or concert piece. In-person audition dates are Friday, May 14, from 3:15-6:30 PM and Saturday, May 15, from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. Please email Ms. Mezza to schedule an audition time at cmezza@yorkcatholic.org.

New YC students who wish to join the color guard must audition. Auditions will take place in August during New Member Band Camp.

Click below to sign-up for Marching Band and Color Guard by May 22.
