How does Bryan get its drinking water?
You use it every day, but you don’t ever really think about it. It’s an essential part of life, but how much do you really know about the City of Bryan’s drinking water? As we celebrate National Drinking Water Week, which is May 2-8, 2021, we recognize the vital role that water plays in our daily lives.

Dream

My name is Dream because most of the time you can catch me in my kennel dreaming away! I love to get in as much beauty sleep as I can. I always say you can never have too much sleep! If you are all about cat naps like I am and want to spend the day lounging on the couch look no further. I am super sweet and love attention too. Let’s curl up on the couch for a movie marathon. I’ll warm the couch and you bring the snacks. I know I sound like a DREAM and you can’t wait to adopt me so come meet me at the Bryan Animal Center today!

If you are interested in adopting Dream, please contact the Bryan Animal Center, at 979.209.5260 to schedule an appointment to visit.

SAVE THE DATE: the Bryan Animal Center will give away 100 free microchips and rabies vaccines to residents and their animals who live in the city limits of Bryan at an event on Saturday, May 15 at Henderson Park.
Railroads built Bryan: Much of Bryan's history revolved around the railroad. In fact, the city was formed when the original 1-square-mile town site was deeded by William Joel Bryan to William R. Baker and Abraham Groesbeck, officials of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad, on April 9, 1860. The railroad officials named the town Bryan in William Joel Bryan's honor. While the Civil War interrupted the construction of the rail line itself, Baker and Groesbeck sold town lots through the early 1860s. The H&TC's first train arrived in Bryan in August 1867, opening a whole new way of travel to Brazos County residents. The Bryan Train Depot is pictured here circa 1909. This depot was built in 1900 by the Calvert, Waco & Brazos Valley Railroad, which merged with the International and Great Northern Railroad in 1901. The depot sat close to where the new Sale Depot currently sits at 29th and Main Street in Gloria Stephan Sale Park in Downtown Bryan.
