Spotlight: July 9th Meeting

Persistence and Transformation in Art, As in Life

Please join us to learn more about Miriam Robinson’s story and her work, from her artistic beginnings and early projects to her first major piece as an independent artist. She’ll share the intention of that work, what it means to her, and how that meaning has changed with time. She will also discuss what worked and didn’t work in making the piece and what she learned making it before closing with a look forward – what she is working on now and what she’s aiming to do next. This will be a hybrid presentation, so you can choose to join us in person at the SEFAA Center or online via Zoom from the comfort of your home.

2021 Annual Report

We are pleased to present our 2021 Annual Report - a little late but, hopefully, well worth waiting for!

Stop Asian Hate by Carmen Beggs, a 2021 Square Foot Fiber Art Pin Up Show winning entry. Sashiko, beaded embroidery, and fabric origami with Kimono silk, cotton quilting fabric, embroidery cloth, and eco-printed silks.

Carmen says, "Maybe I watch too much news. The pandemic, local mass shootings, and protest signs are present in this simple work of Sashiko, beaded embroidery and fabric origami. This is my protest statement to the implicit and systemic abuse of equal rights.
