What's New @ Your
Chandler Public Library
 March 2021

March is Women's History Month and our Library is commemorating and encouraging the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.

Join us by choosing books for yourself and your family with our adult booklist, as well as one for kids.
Our Freegal music streaming service offers many current female artists, as well as those who paved the way for them. Read more about them and listen to some of their inspiring tunes.
Our film streaming platform, Kanopy, is showcasing female-centric films in March. The collection highlights female directors, the history of women in the United States, major female figures and women in current events. Start watching here.
A Message From Our Manager
Greetings, Chandler!

It's hard to believe that March is upon us, yet here we are. The weather has returned to very enjoyable temperatures, and hope is on the horizon as we are beginning to manage Covid-19 after nearly a full year. Here at Chandler Public Library, we continue to offer library service as safely as possible, for both our patrons and our staff.

You can expect the annual Summer Reading Challenge to remain virtual this year, with a great variety of activities and prizes. We are encouraging everyone from infants to seniors to participate, and truly make reading a family event. Reading TO someone, particularly to even the youngest children, establishes an early love of reading and creates early steps to success in school. Chandler Public Library is committed to early literacy efforts in the community, but we can't do it without you!

We do anticipate a slow return to normal access and services in the coming months. In the meantime, don't forget about our online resources available at www.chandlerlibrary.org where you can place holds for pick-up at any CPL location, download ebooks and audiobooks on your mobile devices, and view our calendar of virtual programs. You can also visit our libraries hourly by appointment to browse, connect with our librarians, and use our public Internet computers. Cleaning occurs every hour in between visitors.

The Friends of the Chandler Public Library are reintroducing State48 t-shirts to help support programming and service initiatives at the library. They make great gifts for yourself or for others and will be available in-person or online.

As always, your love for the library is greatly appreciated and we are anxious to welcome to back to our facilities as soon as we can safely do so.
Friends Update

The Friends of the Chandler Public Library Bookshop at the Downtown and Sunset Library locations are open for business, with all onsite books 75% off March 3-6.  This is a great time to buy a book for yourself or gift one to a friend.  Wouldn't it be fun to wrap up a book and leave it on a neighbor's porch or mail it to family member?  Books have a great way of connecting people, and with social distancing, finding ways to creatively connect is key.

Would you prefer to have the Friends of the Library mail a book to you or someone special?  Visit the Friends Amazon and eBay online bookstores for a larger inventory.

All book sale purchases benefit the Friends of the Chandler Public Library in support of Library programs and services.  To learn more about the Friends, visit www.chandlerlibrary.org/friends.
