Homecoming 2022 was a week filled with dress-up days, home games, pep fests, and contests!
The week kicked off with coronation on Monday. Congratulations to all the candidates, and to the King and Queen: Eddie Westmoreland and Carissa Andres.
Dressing up as a biker, a surfer, a 'BBQ Dad' or a 'Soccer Mom' were some of the themed highlights this week. And our highly supportive student section had everyone dressing up for a 'Pool Party' and 'Country Out' at the homecoming volleyball and football games.
The week wraps up with the home football game against the Morris Area Tigers tonight: "We are fighters, bring on the Tigers!"

Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD), focused on improving student behaviors
Pierz Healy High School has started down a path to totally transform how we handle student discipline issues and, more importantly, how we help each student graduate as a responsible, self-disciplined adult. We are adopting the Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD) program, which was created by author Larry Thompson and is now being implemented in hundreds of schools in all 50 states and several other countries. This program teaches practical techniques to help teachers de-escalate confrontations with students, while also enabling teachers to successfully redirect students who need correction.
Parents: please join us along with author/presenter Larry Thompson during parent-teacher-conference night, on Monday, October 10th from 6:30-7:30pm in the high school Band Room. It will be fun and informational--can't beat that combo! Click on the image below or our district blog for an invite from Mr. Andres and more information.

Sixth Grade Water Festival at Camp Ripley
Staff and volunteers from the Morrison County local water plant, Pheasants Forever, the Rich Prairie Water District, Morrison Soil & Water Conservation District, The Science Museum of Minnesota, local DNR, and Camp Ripley eagerly greeted the Pioneer 6th graders on September 21st for their annual Water Festival. The Water Festival started in 1993 and is focused on creating learning opportunities about water resources, wildlife, and general conservation topics.
One of the favorite stations was finding and identifying macroinvertebrates while competing for candy. Another favorite was learning about invasive species in our lakes, rivers, and streams. Students also received a t-shirt reminding them to "Drain it, Dry it, and Dispose of it" as a way to lessen the spread of invasive species.

Johnny Appleseed Day in Preschool
Preschoolers in Mrs. Stamm and Mrs. Marshik's classes celebrated fall with Johnny Appleseed Day. Students learned all about the legend of Johnny Appleseed, read themed books about apples, and had a hoot peeling and cooking apples for fresh, class-made applesauce!

Science lesson from Mr. Otte
Mr. Otte visited Mrs. Andres’ class to share his passion for science. He brought in various types of leaves to spark the students' interest and knowledge about the world in our backyards.
Through the exploration of leaves, observations and questioning, the students learned and practiced the traits of being scientists.
