BECOME A CLINTON CHAMBER YOUTH LEADERSHIP SPONSOR!
APPLY NOW: ONLY ONE SPONSORSHIP SLOT AVAILABLE!!!
The Clinton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce another incoming class of Clinton Chamber Youth Leadership Program (CCYL) participants for the 2020-21 academic year. Each year, the Chamber has the honor to select area high school juniors and seniors to participate in this free youth program, which aims to engage and challenge local students as they volunteer and learn about the City of Clinton and the broader business environment that awaits them after graduation.

This year's varied group of over 30 participants, including students from five area high schools (Clinton High School, Clinton Christian Academy, Jackson Preparatory School, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, and St. Joseph Catholic School), will gain experiences in a familiar classroom-style setting at their monthly meetings while being treated as emerging, accountable adults. Six of the student participants will also take on an even larger responsibility as CCYL officers and perform roles within the program that professionals would handle in an actual company setting.

To accommodate students and their families considering the continuing challenges that COVID-19 poses, the Clinton Chamber will be adapting the CCYL program to allow for virtual participation by the students this year. Regardless of the engagement method chosen, we hope to give the students a great leadership extracurricular program with which they can interact and learn in a manner they feel comfortable.

For this year’s CCYL, the Clinton Chamber is once again looking for sponsors willing to contribute $500 towards the opportunities the program has planned. A sponsorship by your business will assist the Chamber in providing the
following and more for these youth:

  • T-shirts for Events and Volunteer Activities (Sponsors’ logos will be included on the shirts)
  • Personalized Calling Cards for using at college fairs and job interviews
  • Catered Business Dinner Etiquette Session
  • Scholarships for senior participants (sponsors will be credited)
  • Administrative resources for CCYL Officers to perform their leadership roles in the program

If you or your company would like to support this wonderful program with a sponsorship, please contact Emily Pace Hunt, Marketing Communications Manager for the Clinton Chamber, by phone at (601) 924-5912 or by email at pr@clintonchamber.org.

UPDATED: GUIDE TO EXECUTIVE ORDERS POTENTIALLY AFFECTING YOU
RECENTLY UPDATED!
The Mississippi State Department of Health has updated their Helpful Document to Navigate the Current Executive Orders!

A Simple Guide to Executive Orders: A handy summary of the latest COVID-19 Executive Orders from the Governor, organized by who and what they apply to. Correct as of August 5th.
BUSINESSES PREPARE FOR STATEWIDE MASK MANDATE AND SCHOOL RE-OPENING DELAYS
Governor Tate Reeves announced two new executive orders to delay public school re-openings in target counties and establish a statewide mask mandate in the ongoing fight against this unprecedented pandemic.

Working closely with officials in the Mississippi Department of Education and the Mississippi State Department of Health, Governor Reeves is directing school districts in counties with higher risk of community transmission and recent spikes in new cases to delay the start of the 2020-2021 academic year. Under Executive Order No. 1517, school districts in the following counties must delay their re-opening for grades 7-12 until Monday, August 17: Bolivar, Coahoma, Forrest, George, Hinds, Panola, Sunflower, and Washington Counties. The new executive order includes a statewide mask mandate for schools, instructing all Mississippians to wear a mask when inside a school building or classroom, or outside on a school campus when social distancing is not possible.

To combat rising cases and ramp up response efforts across the state, Governor Reeves also issued a statewide mask mandate for all Mississippians to wear a mask when in public, with exceptions including for children under 6 years old, those who cannot cover their face for medical or behavioral conditions, and those at religious worship. Going into effect Wednesday morning, Mississippians must wear a mask when they're inside a business, school, or any place open to the public, or when at an outdoor public space where social distancing is not possible
