Dear Jessica,

Have you heard the good news? Due to a groundswell of public support, Congress has voted to extend higher Child and Adult Care Food Program rates for another year! All educators will receive Tier 1 payments plus an additional 10 cents per meal through June 2023. Family child care providers from across the country came together to make this happen! If you are not already enrolled in CACFP, or have questions about the program, you can reach out to your CACFP agency — or an All Our Kin Business Coach — for assistance.

Next up on the Senate’s agenda is the budget reconciliation. As we know, child care is at risk of being left out of this massive funding bill. Senators Patty Murray and Tim Kaine's proposal will prioritize the needs of families and educators by increasing educators' compensation and expanding families' access to subsidies. While negotiations continue through the Senate's recess, we must make our voices heard! Please take two minutes to send a message urging Congress to include child care in reconciliation.

As we transition into the summer season, All Our Kin's on-site staff will be taking time off to reflect and refresh. Our office & phone lines will remain open throughout the summer, but we encourage you to call before visiting to ensure someone is there to support you.

Wishing you and your families a happy and healthy summer!

Changes to Family Child Care Group Size

A recent public act expanded the capacity of licensed family child care providers to care for up to nine children below age five. To do this, you must have an OEC-approved assisting staff member present. If you are considering expanding your program, All Our Kin urges you to first review your financial options with a business coach.
