BIDDING HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO JUNE 15!
CCRA Annual Meeting
Thursday, May 27, 6pm
The 2020 Pandemic dragged CCRA, as well as the rest of us into the 21st Century’s world of Zoom, searching for how to “raise our hand” digitally and discovering how to “unmute ourselves” before people missed our comments completely. When our bylaws were written (back in the ‘50’s), we didn’t even have color TVs!

We are excited to present to you fully modernized, updated CCRA Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation. And we’ll make it easy (ok, easier) to follow by including a Summary, highlighting the most important updates and changes. YOUR JOB IS TO ATTEND THE ANNUAL MEETING AND VOTE ON THEM. Digital copies of all documents will be sent in a special edition shortly.

Following the business section, stay tuned in to hear PA’s Attorney General, Josh Shapiro talk about how he has developed the courage to take on the biggest fights, as he leads a national battle against drug companies over the opioid crisis.  They’ll be plenty of time for Q&A from you, our members. Here’s a sneak peek at Josh, as seen through the eyes of the Committee of Seventy.

CCRA Board of Directors Meeting

CCRA held its monthly board meeting on Tuesday, May 11. Many topics were discussed including an update on the ATV/dirt bike issue, 2012-18 Chestnut Street, and other business. The materials are ready for review on our website.
CCRA Gives Thumbs-Up to City Budget for FY 2022

In testimony as a member of the Controller’s Community Advisory and Accountability Council, CCRA has expressed its support for the Operating and Capital budgets as presented to City Council by Mayor Kenney. Among other things, CCRA stressed the need for a well-trained, professional police force, more housing for people in crisis, and education and other neighborhood support services. Text of the testimony can be found here.
Renaming Taney Street
In the wake of the murder of George Floyd in Spring 2020, Taney Street residents publicly questioned the appropriateness of the street’s name. Named in 1858, one year after the Dred Scott Decision, it honors an individual whose actions conflict with the city of Philadelphia's values of being a diverse and inclusive city.
