ANNOUNCEMENTS

YOUTH SUNDAY - MAY 5

We praise God for the mighty works we see him doing in the lives of our youth. This Sunday, May 5, we are honoring the youth of AVPC, with both services being led by the youth. Later that afternoon, the graduating seniors will be recognized with the “Senior Guys Fellowship” in Altadena Park and a “Senior Girls Tea” at the home of Elizabeth Kanter.

SENIOR GIRLS TEA - MAY 5

All women of AVPC are invited to join us for a tea to honor all of the senior girls graduating this year. This is a longstanding tradition at AVPC dedicated to celebrating these graduates by praying over them and having women speak into their lives. Whether transitioning into college or the workforce, transitioning into this next phase of life after graduating can be daunting. So, we created this event to encourage and prayerfully build up each graduating senior girl. Help us celebrate them as they prepare for their next adventure. The tea will be this Sunday, May 5, at 2:00 PM at the home of Elizabeth Kanter.

SENIOR GUYS FELLOWSHIP - MAY 5

In the past, the cookout to honor the senior guys has been called the Free Flight. The origins of this name have been lost to the mists of time, but it seems to have something to do with the idea that these young men are leaving the nest, spreading their wings, and flying solo. However, the real power of this event is that it reminds these young men that as they do venture out, they are not alone. Therefore, we have changed the name to The Fellowship, which is a principle that comes from a discipleship program called Wellspring. In that program, you learn that “the fellowship desires to protect you and propel you into your part of the story.” That is exactly what we strive to convey at this gathering! Please join us in Altadena Park after the late service on May 5 from 12:15 – 2:00 to take your place in the fellowship as we break bread together, play games, swap tall tales, and pray over our seniors.

YOUTH MISSION TRIP FUNDRAISER - BEGINNING MAY 5

Check out the 100 Envelopes board in the Welcome Center. The youth group is raising support for their mission trip and is asking church members for donations. Choose an envelope with the amount you’d like to give, place cash or a check with the amount posted on the envelope, and then drop that envelope in the display box or offering plate. Be sure to write “Youth Mission Trip” in the memo line of your check. Additionally, you can scan the QR code on the front of the envelope to give. You can also give to the Youth Mission Trip fund by following THIS LINK.

LOST AND FOUND - PICK UP ITEMS BY MAY 5

The church lost and found is overflowing with unclaimed items. If you’ve been missing anything, check the lost and found shelf, located in the church office next to the Parlor door. Any items unclaimed by this Sunday, May 5, will be donated to charity.

URBAN HOPE SNACK DRIVE - DONATIONS DUE BY MAY 5

It is that time of year when we collect snacks to help our sister church, Urban Hope. This has been a great way for us to tangibly assist Urban Hope as they minister to families in Fairfield during the summer break from school. Please bring any individually packaged snacks and small water bottles (8 oz). NO NUTS OR PEANUT BUTTER CRACKERS! Collection boxes will be in the Parlor and Welcome Center. The deadline to donate is this Sunday, May 5.

PARENT/CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP - MAY 7

This monthly support group meets every first Tuesday from 6:00 – 7:30 PM in the Fireplace Room (next meeting May 7). It is designed for parents or caregivers of individuals with physical, intellectual, or other disabilities to encourage and pray for one another. Join us at any time! For questions, email Nicole Collier (nicolec@bellsouth.net).

COVENANT FAMILY BRUNCH - MAY 12

Join us on Sunday, May 12, during the Sunday School hour for a fellowship brunch. There will be a musical performance from the Children’s Ministry and a brief update on the pastoral transition process. There will be a photo booth to take pictures for the directory that will be released in the fall.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY TEAM

You’re invited! The Children’s Ministry Team is in need of Sunday School Teachers, helpers, and buddies for our summer quarter. Would you prayerfully consider joining us as we root our covenant children in God’s word for future flourishing? Email Catie (catie@avpc.org) for more information!

BABY SHOWER - JUNE 3

The women of AVPC are hosting a baby shower on June 3, at 7:00 PM, at the home of Kelly Driggers to honor Jayla Smith and Kathy Whitner. You can contribute online with THIS LINK or in the collection envelope in your Sunday school class. Please designate “baby shower” in the memo line of your check.

CAMP SOLID ROCK - JUNE 10 – 13

Camp Solid Rock camper and volunteer registration is open! Children from K4 through 5th grade are invited to join us June 10 – 13. We invite kids in our church family to learn timeless truths of the Bible through drama, songs, stories, games, and crafts. Grab a pamphlet from the Welcome Center or Parlor. Camper and volunteer registration can also be found on our website, HERE.

WOMEN’S SUMMER BIBLE STUDY

One of the most important things we can learn from examples of prayer in God’s Word is why we pray. Join us this summer for one of our women’s Bible studies as we take a look at the “why” of prayer. More information on dates, times, and locations of each study offered can be found on our church website, HERE.

Pick up your copy from the Parlor, the Welcome Center, or by following THIS LINK. Each month there will be a specific theme and Scripture verses for you to use in praying for the Pastoral Transition Process.
