Welcome to Redeemer Life!
Does anyone else feel like summer is racing by now that we are on the other side of VBS?

This is not a new sensation.

Every year, as we prepare for VBS, knowing that the Holy Spirit is about to work through the people of Redeemer in big, bold ways, time inches forward. For many of us, VBS marks the official start of summer. All of our energy goes into creating the most memorable experience possible for every child who participates with the hope that by the end of the week -- each child knows that they are a loved child of God and have a home in Jesus Christ.

Now that we are on the other side of what was truly an AMAZING VBS week, summer seems to have sped up and we are actively preparing for what will no doubt be an exciting Fall Kick-off for Redeemer!

Between now and then however, we are committed to keeping you informed of all the good going on behind the scenes. Your Ministry Team is laser focused on Redeemer's Mission -- Living out the Word and healing ministry Jesus.

So a few quick updates...

As hopefully you either heard or read, Pastor Andrew (Drew) Bayless accepted our Associate Pastor Call and will be moving to the Spokane Valley with his wife, Ashley and two sons, Judah and Kaden in September. It is not by chance that Pastor Drew and his family are joining us at this point in Redeemer's history. God has been in the drivers seat throughout the Call process and we're excited to see where His path leads us now that Pastor Drew is joining us on our journey.

We also want to say 'Thank You' to EVERYONE who has joined us in serving and connecting with our local community and neighbors. We don't say Redeemer is a warm and welcoming place just because it sounds nice. We say it because it is true. We are thankful that God placed us in this neighborhood to serve as a place of JOY, comfort and healing for the Spokane Valley.

We had SO much fun connecting over HOT DOGS this past Sunday. Following are a few pictures. Next up, Kona Ice in August (stay tuned)!

VBS Worship + Free Hot Dogs
As you can see, the past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of fun, faith, and FELLOWSHIP. God has poured an abundance of blessings down on Redeemer and the Holy Spirit is working powerfully through our many ministries. We see His light shining brightly through you, too.

In the midst of all of the fun and fellowship, our Visioning Committee and Task Forces have continued to work behind the scenes to advance our visioning work in alignment with Redeemer's mission, vision and core values. This in mind, we're excited to provide you with an update on our current visioning priorities and progress.

Please enjoy Josh Williams', Redeemer's Director of Development, message below.
A Message from...
Josh Williams, Director of Development
Dear Friends and Family of Redeemer,

It is my pleasure to report that our Visioning Committee and Existing Facilities Task Force has made great progress since our last update at the Congregational Meeting in June.

As shared at that meeting and at our Visioning Open House in May, Redeemer's vision consists of two integrated but distinctly different plans. Short term our existing facility has been prioritized while longer term, we are exploring the development of the 30+ acres directly North of the church in collaboration with community partners.

Today, I'd like to provide an update on our existing facility plans.

To give you some background, our church building is almost 35 years old. While it has been maintained well, it is at an age where some major repairs and upgrades are required to continue our growth as a thriving church in our community. Specifically, the building is in need of a new heating and air conditioning system (HVAC) and a new roof. These are the two biggest items, in addition to overarching upgrades to facilitate continued growth of our ministries and congregation. The HVAC and roof will be tackled first and are targeted for completion before winter.

Conceptual designs have been completed for the redesign and remodeling of our Worship Center, lobby, and Church office. I can't wait for you to see the renderings created by ALSC Architects! Our goal is to debut the designs early September to coincide with the kick-off of our fall ministry activities. This said if you'd like a sneak peek, connect with me by phone (509.926-6363) or email (jwilliams@redeemeralive.org). It is truly exhilarating to see the modifications being made to ensure we are living out our mission in the community boldly -- serving as a warm, welcoming and healing presence for our current members, and neighbors we have yet to meet.

As director of development, a question I'm frequently asked is, "How do we pay for all of this?"

Beginning this fall, the Board of Directors has approved the launch of a Capital Campaign Drive to raise the funds needed to undertake and complete our existing facility repairs, upgrades and renovations. The first step in this process will be to conduct a thorough feasibility study.

Redeemer's Board of Directors has hired James Klote & Associates to conduct the feasibility study. The Capital Campaign would then begin early 2022 with construction following soon after.

As we shared during the Congregational Meeting, a bridge loan has been secured to cover the cost of facility repairs that must be done in advance of the Capital Campaign, including the HVAC and Roof. Thrivent Financial provided the bridge loan.

I hope you, too, feel the joy that comes along with realizing Redeemer's vision and living out our mission together as the healing presence of Jesus in our community. I welcome your questions and comments. Please connect with me directly anytime at either 509-926-6363 (church) or 509.868-1756 (cell).

With Thanks,
Josh
