23-24 Admissions Season Opens

We have now opened NEW admissions for the 2023-2024 school year. If you have a younger sibling who is planning to start at St. Benedict next school year, please get your application submitted as early as possible. Also, be sure to email Gretchen Ridgely now, so we can be expecting your application.  If next year is anything like the last few, we will have a limited number of spots in many grades. Also, if you have a friend or neighbor who is interested in our school, please encourage them to apply and join us for our in-person Open House on Wed. Oct. 19th (click here for more info). Word of mouth is by far our most effective marketing, and we are so grateful to all of you who promote our school out in the community. The application for 23-24 is available online our school website, and you can always reach out to Gretchen Ridgely, our Director of Admissions, with any questions.

High School Planning

For some of our students, this is the time to start the high school application process! We have a Coffee with the Principal for our 7th and 8th grade parents, coming up this week on Wednesday at 8:30am in the Cafeteria, to help you get started in that process. Mrs. Autry and Mrs. Cisik will help guide our middle school families through this process and make it as easy as possible. Even if your students aren't in middle school yet, it's never too early to be thinking about the next step in their education. Click here to RSVP by MONDAY, Oct. 3rd.

Parents in Prayer

This Tuesday, October 4 kicks off our first Parents in Prayer! This is an opportunity to pray monthly for our students, faculty and staff. We will meet the first Tuesday of each month from 8:15-9:00am in St. Anselm Hall. All are welcome! See the attachment for our prayers for this month. Please contact Danielle Kelleher dwkelleher9@gmail.com or Maria Jaramillo mjaramillo@saintbenedictschool.org with questions.

Library Whispers

Exciting things are going on in your school library. Here are some you should know:

Our elementary grades visit the library each week to hear great stories, to learn basic library skills, and to look for interesting titles to borrow. Middle school students can check out books by accessing the online catalog from the school website or library Google Classroom. Ask your student to show you how!

All students are invited to take part in the school-wide Reading Challenge. Forms and instructions went home with students last week, and are posted on the library webpage. Participation in the challenge is voluntary. Challenge finishers win House points and an award.

Students in grades K-6 can also earn a free personal pan pizza each month by reading every day. Pizza Hut's BOOK IT! program runs from October through March. There is no paperwork required, but if you want more information you can find it here.

Remember to be a good steward of the books you have borrowed: turn pages carefully with clean hands, use a bookmark to keep your place, put books gently in backpacks, and keep water bottles away from books.

Happy reading!
