Program Kick-off: Secure Futures for Senior Women

The Bright Side Family, with the support of Women United in Philanthropy, has a new program to promote economic security among Bergen County's older women. Secure Futures for Senior Women, kicks off with a workshop titled Creating Financial Wellness & Independence.

Age-Friendly Teaneck will be joining the Township, the Senior Citizens Advisory Board, Chamber of Commerce and several Teaneck business associations in an exciting new initiative that will bring more business to Teaneck stores and restaurants while providing an incentive to Teaneck seniors who prefer to shop and dine locally.

Our Project Director Elizabeth Davis Wins Award from NJAAW

Elizabeth Davis, executive director of The Bright Side Family was awarded the 2022 Carl F. West Award at the June 13 annual conference of New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well. The Carl F. West Award, named in honor of one of NJAAW's founders, celebrates those who demonstrate "Everyday Excellence" in the field of aging services.

Age-Friendly Teaneck Leaders Present at Annual Conference

NJAAW's annual conference was titled "Building an Age-Friendly Ecosystem" and our initiative's leaders were a part of this day of learning about advocacy strategies and program innovation. Project Coordinator EJ Vizzi was on the panel of a morning breakout session discussing "best practices' in developing an age-friendly community. Project Director Elizabeth Davis later that day gave an overview of The Bright Side Family's Portable Assisted Living Services (PALS) program, as part of a panel on integrating care into affordable and supportive housing.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
The four-week program, to be held in July at the Rodda Center, will focus on the importance of staying physically and mentally fit through peer discussions about self-care, motivation, goal setting, healthy coping skills, etc.
