Spring Picnic

Sunday, April 14

All are invited to join us for a church-wide spring picnic immediately following morning worship on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The church will provide drinks and desserts. You provide your picnic lunch!

You can pack your own family’s lunch or get together with your small group, Bible study, people you sit with at church, or friends and divide up the menu to bring part of your picnic. Bring blankets and/or lawn chairs, as we will be outside on the lawn. Some inside seating will be available. We hope to see you there!

Combined Sunday School on Transgenderism

April 14 and 21

Western culture is currently undergoing deep transformation in how people view sexuality and personal identity. Rather than seeing sexuality as a gift to be received from one’s Creator, it is increasingly understood as determined by the individual—even down to remaking bodies to align with a sense of sexual identity. This cultural change has brought unprecedented challenges to the Church as she seeks to bear witness to God’s Word on what it means to be human, and as she seeks to minister in a deeply confused culture.

This all-church mini-series taught by professors from Reformed Theological Seminary will equip Christians to understand what Scripture teaches on issues related to transgenderism, how we got to this cultural moment, and how Christians might wisely and compassionately minister to others on this issue. All adults and youth are welcome to attend. Sunday School begins at 9:00 am in the sanctuary.

Sunday School Recordings

Many of you have asked where you can locate the recording of the Sunday School classes on transgenderism. You can find these at https://christcovenant.org/sunday-school/ and on our YouTube channel.

Meet Dr. James Anderson

Dr. James Anderson is teaching our combined Sunday this coming Sunday, April 14. Dr. James Anderson is an ordained minister in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Dr. Anderson came to RTS from Edinburgh, Scotland, and specializes in philosophical theology, religious epistemology, and Christian apologetics. His doctoral thesis at the University of Edinburgh explored the paradoxical nature of certain Christian doctrines and the implications for the rationality of Christian faith. His research and writing has also focused on the presuppositionalism of Cornelius Van Til, particularly his advocacy of the transcendental argument.

Dr. Anderson has a long-standing concern to bring the Reformed theological tradition into greater dialogue with contemporary analytic philosophy. Before studying philosophy, Dr. Anderson also earned a Ph.D. in Computer Simulation from the University of Edinburgh. He is a member of the Society of Christian Philosophers, the British Society for the Philosophy of Religion, and the Evangelical Philosophical Society. Prior to joining RTS Charlotte, Dr. Anderson served as an assistant pastor at the historic Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh where he engaged in regular preaching, teaching, and pastoral ministry. He is married to Catriona and they have three children. To see all of Dr. Anderson's publications and a video he has on transgenderism, click here.

Christ Covenant Church Welcomes

Campus Outreach Students

Join us in welcoming students with Campus Outreach who are here to worship with us this morning! These students will be serving as leaders on Campus Outreach’s summer project from May 12-31, 2024. Campus Outreach is a campus ministry that works through the local church to reach and develop the next generation of Christ-centered leaders on the university campus. We hope you will join us in welcoming them and in praying for these students as they grow in their walk with Christ.

O Night

Tuesday, April 16

Everyone is invited to join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for Christ Covenant Outreach Nights, called O Nights. Our next one is Tuesday, April 16, from 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm. We will meet in the south lobby of the worship center. We will have some time of training to equip our people, and then we will go out in groups into the community to do surveys and to share the gospel. If you do not feel comfortable walking, we would love for you to participate by praying on our campus. Please bring your small group, family, etc. and join us! If you have any questions, contact Amy Van Dusen at avandusen@christcovenant.org.

Women's Ministry Spring Brunch

Thursday, April 25

Our 2024 Spring Brunch is on Thursday, April 25, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, in the Community Life Center. Please RSVP by April 22 by clicking here.

Bring a salad or dessert to share and join us for brunch! Let us know what you plan to bring in the RSVP link above. We’ll hear from a panel of ladies on how to engage in hospitality during all life stages, enjoy fellowship, and celebrate the work of the Lord in us and through us.

Plan to bring a favorite family recipe to the brunch. We will be compiling them into a recipe book that will be available for purchase later in the year as a fundraiser for our local ministry partners!

Childcare is available for the brunch. To reserve your child’s spot in childcare, please contact Stephanie Bennett at sbennett@christcovenant.org to see if space for childcare is still available.

Monthly Prayer for our Nation

Sunday, April 28

All are invited to join us once a month for a time of prayer focused on our nation. Throughout Scripture, we read of God’s people calling out to him for help, guidance, and direction for its leaders and land. In this election year it seems right to gather, not for politics, but prayer. Would you join us on Sunday, April 28, from 5:00 pm – 5:40 pm, in the youth center/lower Community Life Center, as we gather to call on God’s name?

Spring Sunday School Class Electives

April 28 - May 19

We have a variety of adult Sunday School classes beginning Sunday, April 28 that will go through May 19, 2024. All classes begin at 9:00 am on Sundays. To see a list of all the classes and locations, please pick up a new Sunday School booklet found on the tables outside the sanctuary or click here. If you have any questions about Sunday School, please email info@christcovenant.org. We look forward to seeing you at Sunday School!

Save the Date - Ascension Concert

Sunday Evening, May 5

On Sunday evening, May 5, at 6:00 pm, it will be our joy to honor Jesus Christ as the ascended King and to give thanks for the gift of the Spirit. We hope everyone will invite a friend and then join us for an evening of praise and worship, sacred music, spirituals, and more.

Children's Sunday School Spotlight

During Sunday School this morning, all our children from two years-old to fifth grade are learning about when Korah, Dathan and Abiram complain to Moses from The Biggest Story Bible Storybook curriculum, from the lesson “You’re Not the Boss of Me” in Numbers 16. If you sit near a family with young children, please take a moment to ask the children to share what they learned in Sunday School with you!
