Courageous Women of Integrity
must take responsibility for our future!
They should wrest it away from the feckless men
SOS #178 -- J. Morris Hicks -- (10-4-22)
The first half of this two-part series was posted two weeks ago. In case you missed it: Courageous Women of Integrity. Part One.
Overwhelmingly, men have been ruling humanity for the first 300,000 years of our existence.

During the last century, they have proven why they are woefully unfit for the top leadership roles in a highly complex global civilization consisting of 195 countries in the era of human-driven, runaway climate change.

Two weeks ago, I called out the seven men pictured below who, along with the UN's completely ineffective, male-dominated IPCC -- have failed miserably when it comes to slowing, stopping or reversing climate change. Tragically, none of them ever even mention the prospect of getting serious about the leading driver, animal agriculture.

Not only is it the leading driver, by far, -- it is also the ONLY driver that would be technically feasible and economical to completely eliminate in less than ten years. But the men below don't talk about it because of this fact.

Initially, this inconvenient truth about animal agriculture would not be well-received by the world's public, and as such, it would almost certainly lessen their popularity and power in the near term.

So, is it more important to remain popular in the court of public opinion -- or should we do our best to prevent the horrible deaths of billions of children AND the extinction of humanity?

Apparently the fragile egos of these seven well-known men prevent them from loudly telling the entire world -- how all eight billion of us can easily and quickly make a huge difference when it comes to climate change.

I believe that a well-coordinated global campaign by these seven men could possibly prevent the deaths of the majority of children who are alive today. But it's not going to happen.

Their silence on this topic is deafening and criminal!
They all stick to the conventional narrative on climate change -- the seriously flawed fairy tale that we simply need to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy. That is flawed logic for a host of reasons. Plus, even if it were possible, we don't have the half-century or longer that it would take to get it done.

These guys are what I call one-ball jugglers. None of them are talking about the big three categories of unsustainable human behavior that, collectively, have far more to do with our survival as a species than simply powering our unsustainable way of living with green energy. Here are those big three, the first two being issues that will take centuries to resolve:

Overpopulation. Overconsumption.
Eating the wrong food for our species.

Since publishing Powerful Women of Integrity. Part One two weeks ago, I did further research on a number of other well known, highly respected women who will likely be seeking the truth when it comes to what it will take to have a chance to slow, stop or reverse climate change.

Pictured below, these two international personalities (Greta and Jane) sit atop my list of nine globally respected women who can leverage their collective influence, power and wealth to begin steadily reducing the leading driver of climate change.

Both the youngest and oldest in that group of nine bring the knowledge and the passion for this topic that is so necessary in order to inform and inspire the other seven.
Greta Thunberg (19)
& Jane Goodall (88)

We will take a look at the other seven women in a minute -- but first, let's check in on what progress has been made by the IPCC (intergovernmental panel on climate change) during the male-dominated era of dealing with humanity's greatest threat.
What about the IPCC?
How are they doing? Why are they not stressing that we must eliminate the leading driver of climate change?
From the IPCC website: "The IPCC was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988."
After thirty-four years, they have accomplished very little. Not surprisingly, since the UN's Secretary General, Antonio Guterres (pictured here) never even mentions the overwhelming leading driver of climate change. Their report card appears in the graph below.

As you can see, the CO2 ppm has gone up steadily from the 350 safe level in the mid 80's to the 420 level that we have today. Here is a graph of what has happened since 2012 during the last full decade of IPCC oversight.
The above graph demonstrates what happens when we never address the leading cause of a problem. It just keeps getting steadily worse -- with no relief in sight.

Not only does the IPCC rarely, if ever, mention the leading driver of climate change -- as stated earlier, that crucial driver is almost totally ignored by the seven world famous men pictured earlier.

What can we do about that problem?
Replace them with nine courageous women of integrity!
After fully understanding the "big picture" regarding climate change, I sincerely believe that these nine exceptional women would quickly leverage their knowledge, courage and integrity to simply do what's right. The future of our species will be riding on their ability to get it done.

Unlike the men, they won't be afraid to focus relentlessly on the leading driver of climate change -- which also happens to be the only driver that can realistically be eliminated worldwide in less then ten years.

Of course, that will not happen without outstanding leadership from a group of nine exceptional women who believe that the futures of the world's children are far more important than their own, near term popularity.
How and why were these nine women chosen?

  • Greta and Jane are the youngest and the oldest, they both have international reputations and they share the same passion for the most important topic in human history.
  • Kate Winslet is passionate about this topic, understands all of the intricacies -- and played the lead role in the 2021 film Eating Our Way to Extinction.
  • Sylvia Earle (87), a world-renowned marine biologist and oceanographer, also appeared in the above film and was named by TIME as the first "hero of the planet" in 1998.
  • Oprah has to be on this list. She enjoys a huge presence on the world stage and is not afraid to speak her mind.
  • Michelle knows a lot more about the importance of our food choices than most realize. As a bonus, with her on the team, we get the former president, who skillfully demonstrates his deep understanding of this crucial topic in a 5 min 2007 video from the campaign trail in Florida.
  • Angela Merkel, a scientist, was the first woman Chancellor of Germany and enjoys global respect for her track record in a major leadership role on the world stage.
  • Melinda Gates is a woman of integrity who will be very helpful in getting the powerful message from this group to nearly everyone in the world.
  • Finally, people will ask me why Liz Cheney is on this list. I may be wrong about her, but during the January 6 hearings to date, she has won my respect for her integrity in doing the right thing -- even if it means losing her job.

One more thing about Congresswoman Cheney -- she will no longer have to worry about what those meat-loving citizens of Wyoming think about her. And once she fully "gets it" regarding the supreme importance of our food choices to the survival of humanity, she may surprise a lot of people -- even her own father.
As my list of nine was coming together, a well-connected friend suggested that we add Mackenzie Scott (Bezos ex) who has given away a record $12 Billion in three years.

Perhaps the nine women can invite her to join the group -- after they are fully aware of the singular importance of our food choices. Money helps a great deal -- when you're trying to urgently get that message to Eight Billion People in a hurry.

Two weeks ago, one male reader commented that he thought I was being too negative regarding the "feckless" men the world looks to for leadership on battling climate change. So I asked a few women what they thought about my treatment of those seven men pictured earlier.

Here is one response that is representative of several others:

You were not too rough at all! It’s important to tell the truth. I’m Canadian. I’ve always known Al Gore was a sham. My husband often watches and rewatches An Inconvenient Truth, but I won’t. The first time I watched it, I could tell Al Gore was a hypocrite.

The group of seven men have failed us and now we're running out of time. We know what hasn't worked -- and it's time to make a change.
The Bottom Line
It's time to turn our future over to
Courageous, Well-Funded
Women of Integrity!
Just imagine what can happen when these nine or ten women decide to make eliminating the #1 driver of climate change their primary focus. Within months, almost everyone in the world will be aware of their collaborative efforts to slow, stop or even reverse climate change.

Of course, they get that done by boldly and loudly addressing the #1 driver. Aware of the difficulty of asking people all over the world to change their food choices, they are all willing to suffer a temporary drop in their popularity in order to set that urgently needed, civilization saving, dietary shift in motion.

As a group, they all enjoy worldwide respect and have access to $trillions worth of funding. Within the group, we have scientists, entertainers, philanthropists, a former head of state, authors, a sitting member of Congress and the greatly admired former First Lady of the United States.

It is very likely that someone, somewhere -- reading this SOS Memo -- knows someone who is capable of pulling this stellar group together.

Hopefully, she or he will do it soon.
For these guys...
Although these newly designed, more compact, SOS Memos will continue be fairly short and more entertaining, we will still provide tons of FREE data & "big picture" reference material at the end of each one of them, beginning with free access to our two latest books. After the books below...scroll on down to the:

In closing, do you want to do your part to help people get healthy...while slowing, stopping or even reversing climate change at the same time? Then, share this SOS Memo and the free books below with everyone you know.
FREE: Two "Big Picture" Books
Our health, our planet and climate change
To our knowledge, OUTCRY is the only book ever published that features a summary of "outcries" from the natural world, along with consensus conclusions of ninebig picture scientists regarding our dilemma — AND an envisioned sustainable civilization of the future, using today’s technology.

I also refer to this book as the "User's Guide for Planet Earth."
In mid 2022, we began giving this book away free of charge.

We are giving it away because, as Jeremy Rifkin said early in this recent 15-minute video:

"the most important info in all of humanity is going undiscussed."

We're talking about the crucial information regarding how we can possibly slow or stop climate change within a few years.

Want to help relieve the desperate situation in which we find ourselves, read OUTCRY as soon as you can and send it to everyone you know. Just click on the book cover above.
Here is the 2nd book we are now offering FREE to the world public: a quick and easy read that I wrote with Dr. Kerry Graff in 2015.

Using the Power of Food to Heal
Ourselves and Our Planet

This compact book is still highly relevant, focusing on helping people take charge of their health and reverse chronic disease by urgently shifting to a whole-food, plant-based way of eating.

A fringe benefit of their efforts is the steady downsizing of the leading driver of climate change: animal agriculture. Merely suggesting that the masses cut back on their meat, diary, egg and fish consumption will accomplish very little.

We want everyone to completely eliminate all animal-based foods from their diet. Yes, that includes cheese, eggs and all forms of seafood

For your children and grandchildren, just do it!
Please share today's timely SOS with everyone.

Finally, please contact me about arranging a FREE "live" Zoom talk for your group. They will get a lot more out of my talk if they have read our two FREE books in advance of my talk.

Sincerely, J. Morris (Jim) Hicks

What about the "preservation" of civilization?
To clarify, we're not trying to preserve civilization as we know it. Because what we have now is extremely wasteful, harmful and grossly unsustainable. It's an incredibly reckless way of living that is now threatening our very existence as a species.

We're talking about replacing it with an entirely new, ultra-green civilization of the future -- and we do our best to paint a picture of that envisioned way of sustainable living in OUTCRY. For what one Ohio State professor emeritus of history had to say about that book on Amazon, click here.
As for making our stand on the only planet in the universe capable of keeping us alive, this "Big Picture" section below will provide you with handy reference materials on this most crucial of all topics.

Beginning with the timeline of research
Five World-Changing Films
That People Everywhere Must See
Film #1 in 2014
In 2014, Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn produced their first documentary film Cowspiracy. Executive producer is Leonardo DiCaprio, it runs 90 minutes and has been on Netflix since 2015. In 2020, I met Kip and Keegan in Sedona where I was honored to be able to speak at the same conference with them and other great leaders in this movement like Dr. Sailesh Rao and Dr. Michael Greger.
Film #2 in 2017
Also on Netflix, Kip and Keegan teamed up again in 2017 to produce What the Health, which is also on Netflix. It runs 92 minutes and may be the best documentary ever that focuses on the health reasons for choosing to eat plant-based. Click here to watch the short trailer. You can also watch the full movie for free on Vimeo.
Film #3 in 2021
In 2021, Kip Anderson teamed up with British filmmaker Ali Tabrizi, to produce Seaspiracy, an 89-minute film that vividly and alarmingly reveals what is at stake when it comes to the crucial importance of our oceans to our future as a species. Most people have no idea regarding the environmental horrors of commercial fishing -- a disgusting industry that kills dolphins by the thousands and tosses them back into the ocean. It runs 90 minutes on Netflix. Click here to view the trailer.
Film #4 in 2021
As our situation becomes more desperate, the documentary films become more terrifying. As alluded to earlier, we are literally Eating Our Way to Extinction, a process that is vividly covered in this 2021 film (81 minutes). Narrated and produced by Kate Winslet, you can watch this great film on Amazon Prime or on YouTube for $3.99. The great ocean scientist and former head of NOAA, Dr. Sylvia Earle lends powerful credibility to such a crucial topic.
Film #5 in 2022
This new film (89 minutes) features a young activist who travels around his country, New Zealand in an effort to find out the truth about the horrors of the dairy industry in his native land.

The film uncovers alarming information about the environmental and health impacts of the industry -- leading up to the discovery that we are on the edge of the biggest global disruption of food and agriculture in history. This new film is now available for free at waterbear.com
Grasping the "Big Picture"
These 2 films will help in understanding
our unprecedented dilemma.
This 83-minute documentary is all about the findings that were documented in Dr. Stephen Emmott's 2013 book. TEN BILLION.

He brilliantly describes the grossly unsustainable way of living that has brought us to the emergency situation in which we find ourselves. Since I met him in London in 2013, he has become much more serious about the need to abolish the practice of eating meat, dairy, eggs and/or fish at almost every meal.

Just click on the hourglass image. Dr. Emmott delivers a very compelling message from the stage of a theater in London. This 2013 film is still relevant and will certainly help more people grasp that all-important "big picture."
Finally, this half-hour video was published in November of 2021. It was produced by Michael Dowd, a non-scientific researcher like me who does a very fine job of explaining the many facets of the obstacles standing between us and our survival as a species.

As do practically all researchers, Dowd focuses entirely on the problem; not the solution. I prefer to focus on both.
What else can you do?
Probably a lot more than you think
  • Start with the new documentary (Film #4) mentioned earlier -- Eating our way to Extinction for $6 on Netflix. Watch it often with your friends and family.
  • Share this SOS Memo widely: Certainties, Uncertainties & Priorities by J. Morris Hicks.
  • Get an e-copy of OUTCRY. Visit Outcry page on Amazon and get a much bigger understanding of the situation in which all humans find ourselves.
  • Inform all the young people in your world that you are deadly serious about this topic. Urge them to read these SOS Memos and our latest book, OUTCRY.
  • Completely stop eating meat, dairy, eggs and fish today and tell everyone why you are taking such a "radical" step. You're doing it for the innocent children of the world.
  • As noted above, do yourself a favor and make sure that your plant-based meals of the future consist of whole plants -- the kinds of foods that prevent or reverse most chronic diseases AND enable your body to effortlessly seek its optimal weight.
I am confident that if a few million people carefully read and digested this book that there would be a more robust conversation around the world regarding our grossly unsustainable way of living in the developed world.

To my knowledge, OUTCRY remains the only book ever published that features an envisioned, totally-green, ultra-sustainable, super-desirable, future way of living for humans -- along with ideas for how we might get there as quickly as possible.

The links below to earlier SOS Memos will help you understand how these ideas unfolded since 2018.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
