Berryessa Union School District seeks approximately 20-25 people to be part of a School Consolidation Advisory Committee to help decide which Berryessa schools should be considered for consolidation, closure and for attendance boundary changes, among other things.
The Berryessa Union School District Board of Trustees voted to review school sites and their use due to a funding shortage caused mainly by a significant drop in student enrollment during the last few years.
Specifically, the committee will review: district and school enrollment trends; conditions of facilities; school configuration models; school closure and consolidation options; and school boundary realignment.
This committee will provide crucial community input and allow for transparency. It will present a report with recommendations to the Board of Trustees in November 2024. The Board of Trustees will consider the recommendations and the report before deciding what steps it should take to optimize how the district serves its students.
Because of the importance of the work of this committee, individuals who volunteer should be highly qualified, capable, and dedicated.
The School Consolidation Advisory Committee will include a broad cross-section of community members who have an interest in and/or may be affected by school consolidation including school district staff, parents, business and community members, land owners and renters.
Please find the recruitment packet with the application for serving on the BUSD School Consolidation Advisory Committee on the District’s website. Applications are available in English, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Spanish.
The application submission deadline is Monday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. Completed applications should be delivered to: Kevin Franklin at kfranklin@busd.net or in person at Berryessa Union School District, 981 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, CA 95131.
For questions, please contact either Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Kevin Franklin at kfranklin@busd.net or 408-923-1860 or Administrative Assistant Margot Sandoval at msandoval@busd.net or 408-923-1860.
