YMM Wins Four Airport Service Quality Awards

Airports Council International (ACI) World announced Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) as the winner of four 2023 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards based out of North American airports, including Best Airport <2 Million Passengers, Easiest Airport Journey, Most Enjoyable Airport and Cleanest Airport. The Fort McMurray Airport Authority joined with YMM's terminal partners in the Observation Area to celebrate on March 27.

Tourism Industry Association Alberta Town Hall

The Tourism Industry Association of Alberta (TIAA) launched its Tourism 2024 Town Hall Series at MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray on April 4. This event series is jointly hosted by TIAA, Travel Alberta, and Indigenous Tourism Alberta.

Denean Robinson, President & CEO and Michael Sieger, VP of Air Service and Commercial Development of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority participated on panels and spoke to the importance of YMM and working with local partners to support tourism growth.

"It’s imperative to collaborate with industry colleagues to identify opportunities and learn about emerging trends, driving tourism to our region, supporting local businesses and our overall economy," said Robinson during her address.

Woman of Inspiration

Team members of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority (FMAA) cheered on President & CEO, Denean Robinson, at Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta's (EM)POWER: Women of Inspiration Celebration on March 9, as she was one of the five outstanding local women recognized for the 2024 Women of Inspiration Series. 

The annual event serves as a platform to celebrate and honour exceptional individuals living in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo. The series also aims to show local girls positive role models who live within their community.

Future Projects Summit

Michael Sieger, Vice-President of Air Service & Commercial Development, presented Fort McMurray Airport Authority's masterplan for Aurora Landing at the Fort McMurray Construction Association’s (FMCA) Future Projects Summit on March 26.

FMAA thanks the attendees for their questions and interest in the project, as well as to the other presenters from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the Regional Recreation Corporation for sharing their construction plans.

Over 1,500 guests visited the Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) to attend the YMM Hareport Eggstravaganza on March 16. Proceeds raised support the important programming and services offered through United Way & Wood Buffalo (UW) partner agencies.

On the YMM Runway: First Sight at the Lights

FMAA's Maintenance Technician, Mark Jones, captured a stunning photo on the northern lights and this one is extra special as its of new FMAA employee Jack Walsh on the YMM runway. Being from Waterford in the Republic of Ireland, it was Jack’s first time seeing Fort McMurray’s favourite light show.
