“Sunday Worship Road Trip
Various Times

This Sunday we invite you to go on a road trip a virtual one, that is! FUSW will not hold a Zoom worship so you can instead be a guest at an online service of the congregation of your choice. Just type "Unitarian Universalist congregation in ----" in your search bar to find travel options. Is there a city you have always wanted to visit, or a faith leader you'd like to hear? Most congregation websites include an invitation to join their online services, like ours does. Be sure to take note of the time service starts (especially in other time zones). Here are a few suggestions for what are sure to be interesting virtual services:

After your travels, please take a moment to jot down a sentence or two with impressions of your visit and send them to Rina (admin@fusw.org) for a special section in a future Scoop. Questions? Contact Betsy Kates (bkates42@verizon.net). Have a great trip!
We are holding gatherings and Sunday services online. Check our website fusw.org and Facebook page for information and updates.

Coming Full Circle

Last Sunday, we gathered in person on the FUSW grounds for our traditional year-end worship service. Many people made wonderful contributions to the service, which included a rich variety of music, lovely readings and personal reflections, and a beautiful homily by Rev. Arlin Roy. In addition to the joy of seeing one another in person there was the inspiration of seeing our members' talents, intellect, generosity, and compassion in action. In short, it was amazing! Warmest thanks to all who were there! One key participant was omitted from the order of service: A shout-out to Sue McAnanama, who acted as FUSW's roving reporter on behalf of the members who attended by Zoom. Finally, our deepest thanks to FUSW's wonderful administrator, Rina Schunk, for printing the order of service and handling countless other details that made the service a tremendous success! ~ Diane Guernsey
Message from the Minister

Greetings, FUSW folks!

I hear that things went beautifully last weekend for your outdoor event. What a blessing to enjoy good weather, great music, and lovely company, after all the struggles of the past year. Let's hope good things are on the horizon!

A couple of people have asked if it is too late to register for General Assembly, our annual national gathering of Unitarian Universalists that happens each June. GA 2021 was planned for Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this year, but due to the pandemic it will be all virtual. It definitely isn't too late to register! Click here to register for GA.

While some of the events necessarily will be different in the virtual environment, there are still all kinds of workshops, worship services, concerts, and lectures to enjoy -- like the Ware Lecture, featuring Stacey Abrams and Desmond Meade, on Saturday evening. Click here to see the full GA schedule (note that times listed are CDT. For EDT, add an hour).

If you're an FUSW member who plans on registering, consider being a delegate so that you can vote on the important resolutions that will be decided this year at GA, and will impact the future of Unitarian Universalism.

If you have any questions about GA or about becoming a delegate, I'd love to talk to you! Feel free to contact me anytime at minister@fusw.org. Enjoy your week, be well, and keep in touch!

Blessings. ~ Rev. Kristina
New Summer Collaboration

Our summer services will be quite different this year! We are excited to be collaborating with the UU Congregation of the Hudson Valley (Croton), taking turns logging in to one another’s summer worship beginning July 4 and running through September 5. Please note these services will start at 10:00am. We will post the UUCHV link in the Scoop each week. We are looking for volunteers to lead worship and also help with hosting/tech, to fulfill our part of this shared commitment with Croton. Sundays July 25 and August 8 are still open for volunteers who would like to host! Contact Betsy Kates (bkates42@verizon.net) or Lisa DiMauro (ldemauro@optonline.net) if you would like to lead or help. If you'd like it, one-to-one training is available with our very own Rina!
Service Archive Addition

Rev. Arlin Roy has shared the homily “Kindness," which he delivered this past Sunday. If you missed hearing it (or would like to read it again) visit the Members page of fusw.org, click on Service Archive and then click on Sermons. You will find the homily listed there.
Livestream Concert from Westport

Share the Plate for Summer: Inter-Group Association of Alcoholics Anonymous of New York

The Inter-Group Association of Alcoholics Anonymous of New York, Inc, known as New York Inter-Group (“NYIG”), was formed by NY area A.A. groups to help fulfill their primary purpose — carrying the A.A. message to still-suffering alcoholics. Since 1946, NYIG has been the information exchange center in the greater NYC area for events and matters concerning A.A. as a whole. We collect for our Share-the-Plate partner throughout the month. Visit fusw.org, clickDonate, and selectShare the Plate.
