No Host Bar starts at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner starts at 7.p.m.

Ren attended law school at the College of William and Mary and was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1977.  While waiting for a security clearance for employment in the Office of the General Counsel, US Army Corps of Engineers, Ren was offered employment by the Directorate of Operations (DO) at CIA.  Ren, with his wife Toni and sons Chris and Tim, embarked on a global adventure for the next 26 years including field assignments in Madras,  New Delhi, Frankfurt, Cairo, and Los Angeles.  Ren's HQS operational duties included management assignments on the Afghan and Iran Task Forces, as well as the Counterterrorism Center.  Ren was promoted to the Senior Intelligence Service in 1996.  He served as Deputy Chief of the DO's Human Resources Staff and Deputy Chief, National Resources Division.  Ren last served as the DCI's Representative in Los Angeles with operational responsibility for Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona.  Ren coordinated with Federal and local law enforcement agencies and served as intelligence liaison on the Mayor's Task Force on Port Security.

Ren, along with six other senior officers, established the DO's Leadership Seminar in 1997 which engaged mid-grade officers in a week long discussion of the qualities of leadership.  Ren was given the DCI's Intelligence Commendation Medal for this endeavor.

Upon retirement in 2003, Ren was awarded the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal.

Today Ren and Toni live on 10 acres in Paso.  Their son Chris and his wife Erin, professional musicians, live in a second house on the property.  Younger son Tim, his wife Freda (both journalists) and grand-daughter Roxie live on a 50 foot trawler berthed in Alameda.

Ren is still a member of the Virginia Bar as well as the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO).

Focke-Wulf FwP-149D Arrives finds new home at Estrella Warbird Museum

FwP-149d
Sherm Smoot, donor David H. Goff, Jim Barker and Gary Corippo, discussing the new addition

The Focke-FwP 149D, also known as a "Piggy", a four seater aircraft, was developed from the P148, a twin-seater, in the early 1950´s at the PIAGGIO factory in Genoa, Italy.
The prototypes used a Lycoming GO-435 engine.  The production airplane, which was a little bit bigger and heavier, used the GO-480 instead (274 HP).
The maiden flight was on the 19th of June 1953. The German Forces picked the aircraft as a trainer, ahead of the Beechcraft T34 Mentor and the Saab 91 Safir, mainly because of it´s big cabin, since the plane should also serve as a liaison aircraft for the German Air force and the German Navy.
Total production was 280 aircraft. This one is Serial #255.  Most of the FwP 149D's were military, but a few examples went to private customers. SWISSAIR, for example, bought five "Piggi´s" (P 149E´s) for their now abandoned flight academy in Zurich, Switzerland. A few more were delivered to the Uganda Airforce (P 149U´s).   You can find more information on this aircraft by clicking on either picture above.
