Notes of Joy - Week of August 8
This Week's Gospel: John 6:35, 41-51
Apparently not satisfied by Jesus’ feeding of thousands, some who were there press him for a sign of his power; perhaps it is daily manna they want. As always in John’s gospel when people want a sign, Jesus offers himself. He is the bread come from heaven to give life to the world. He calls us to come to him and believe in him, and through that relationship to know the one who sent him.

Finance Update

review of our finances as of 6/30/2021 is encouraging.

  • Our General Offerings from January-June 2021 was $90,293. Comparing this to half of the total General Offering for 2020 ($88,000), we are slightly ahead for 2021.
  • Overall, actual expenses are in line with budgeted amounts for 2021. The exception being in payroll/staff benefits from January-June 2021 which were substantially lower than what was budgeted. (Contributing to this, we did not pay a pastor salary in June as Pastor Karen retired the end of May and Pastor Sean did not begin until July.)

Thank you for your generous and sustained support of our ministry. We are entering an exciting chapter in the life of Joy Lutheran Church with Pastor Sean at the helm.  All of you make Joy Lutheran Church a success. Not just through your monetary giving but as importantly through your time and talents. Giving of our time, talents and resources reminds us that all we have was a gift from God and is meant to be shared. Our God gives to us abundantly and our congregation reflects that in our support of Joy’s mission. We can’t do this without each and every one of you.

-Sue Weimer, Council President
