Hello fellow wine enthusiast!
Happy Spring! A time for new beginnings in the wine world, from bud break to new wine releases for the year. It is a time for anticipation of what is to come.
I recently came back from a wine trip to Northern Italy. It has quickly become my favorite area for Italian wine, largely for two reasons:
- I drink a lot of wine from Alto Adige and Piemonte
- The terroir is incredibly dynamic and steeped in history, both physical and as well as the generational impact.
My Wine Ed Index submission this month was inspired by this concept; terroir's tangible and intangible impact on wine and our enjoyment of it. I hope you enjoy this topic, as it is the soul of every great bottle of wine. Those producers that are able to connect with it to the highest level are making memorable wines that make great memories.
Cheers to you in your wine appreciation journey and never stop searching for how and why terroir is wine's link to its place.
Cheers,
George
