Dear River Forest residents,

At this week’s Village Board meeting, an Ordinance was adopted amending the Zoning Code to include solar panels. The changes clearly state the requirements for roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar panels for all zoning districts within the Village, which can be found here. This update will also allow the Village to receive SolSmart Silver designation from the U.S. Department of Energy. We are excited about the continued progress of our sustainability initiatives!

The Board of Trustees also discussed and adopted an Ordinance updating the Village’s Building Code standards. This change comes after several months of analysis to minimize the financial impact on residential and commercial construction, along with renovation costs.

Finally, this month is National Preparedness Month. I encourage all River Forest residents to plan ahead and make sure you are prepared for emergencies and disasters. Please read the information below to learn more.

Sincerely,

Cathy Adduci, Village President

It's National Preparedness Month: So Get Prepared!

September is National Preparedness Month, and a time for individuals and families to prepare for the unexpected. Before natural disasters and emergencies happen, be sure to have a kit in place that includes food and supplies so you can survive for several days. Make sure you also have an emergency plan - including a home escape plan - as well as a pre-arranged meeting place in case you are separated from your loved ones. Also, don’t forget any amenities you might need for your pet! Click here to learn more.
