SEEDS June 16, 2021
Hear Ye. Hear Ye.
IN PERSON INSIDE THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday, June 20th, we will return to indoor worship with a single, celebratory service at 10 a.m. If you are yet to be vaccinated we ask that you continue to mask for your own safety. If you are vaccinated you may be unmasked following the latest CDC guidelines. We recognize that some vaccinated people will also still want to wear a mask as well and that's perfectly fine too.

We will have a special Welcome Back Choir for the day and if you would like to be a part of that you are more than welcome! You can join the group at 9 am for rehearsal and sing just this one Sunday or for the season.

Starting June 27th we will return to our former schedule with a spoken service at 8 a.m. and a service with music at 10 a.m.
Pride Week Sheffield
To kick off Pride Week in Sheffield, we have an exciting new event on the afternoon of Sunday, June 20th: The Pride Week LGBTQ+ Playreadings!
Local Sheffield playwright Ed Valentine, NYC actor Jennifer Laine Williams, and some of their talented friends will present an afternoon reading of several short plays by LGBTQ+ community writers. This event is free, with a suggested donation of $10 to $20 dollars - or whatever you're able to donate - to offset travel costs of the performers.

Our Pride Week Playreading will be held Sunday, June 20th, from 2-4 PM on the outdoor lawn of Bushnell-Sage Library, 48 Main Street, Sheffield, MA 01257.
Ice pops will be provided, as well as fresh new plays. Please bring your own lawn chairs and snacks / drinks (no glass, please). And please note that some of the plays contain adult language and themes.

OWLES
OWLES will meet for lunch at the Pavilion in French Park, North Egremont, at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 23, to dine, socialize, and talk about resuming some outings in the fall. The co-leaders, Liz Wells and Nancy King, will provide cold cuts, rolls, condiments, and dessert. We ask attendees to bring their own drinks (non-alcoholic) and a side dish or appetizer to share. COVID regulations at the time will apply; we will let you know closer to the time. French Park is on Prospect Lake Road in North Egremont. Take Rte. 71 from Rtes. 23/41 to North Egremont and turn left at the Country Store. French Park is about 1/8 mile up the road on the left. School Family Food Box program continues
Thanks to your support, Old Parish's spacious accommodations, and some great volunteers, we will continue with our School Family Food Box program throughout the summer.
Juneteenth
"Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation - which had become official January 1, 1863." ©JUNETEENTH.com

Join us as we celebrate the day when freedom finally reached the last enslaved persons in America. All people of faith might mark this particular moment in our history mindful that the sin of white supremacy continues to impact Black lives in our time. This diocesan liturgy is being planned by the Beloved Community Commission as an entry point for deeper engagement with the story and to gather us all for prayer on this great day. Our presider will be the Rt. Rev. Douglas J. Fisher.

Next week, we will take a closer look at what we learned from worshiping outdoors and what's next for Lich Gate Concerts.

For now, though, here's a glimpse of the fabulous premiere of Lich Gate Concerts, which was at Sheffield Town Park on Saturday.
Appalachian Trail
Our AT ministry 2021 begins next week. Bob Healy is once again our Christ Trinity Church volunteer coordinator. We will be offering a corner of kindness to hikers right here in Sheffield.
