WE APOLOGIZE
The 2022 Spring Newsletter Titled “Plainfield in Bloom” and the May 16th E-Newsletter - incorrectly identified an individual as Mrs. Irene Leath during a street renaming ceremony honoring the Leath family.
The City of Plainfield apologizes to the Leath Family for the misrepresentation and to the recipients of the Newsletters for the confusion.
We are grateful to the Leath family for their invaluable contributions to the Queen City. The Street, which now bears the family name, will testify to their commitment to Plainfield.

PLAINFIELD HIGHLIGHTS | WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEKEND?
RECAP Food Truck Festival | June 3, 2022
Wow-what a great way to kick off the weekend! On Friday, June 3, 2022, the City of Plainfield held its monthly Food Truck Festival at Gavett Place between East 2nd Street and North Ave. Plainfield residents and visitors from neighboring cities came out to grab a bite from our delicious food trucks. If you weren't sinking your teeth into a lobster roll from Cousins Maine Lobster, devouring a sub from Big C's, munching on an empanada from Cave Kitchen, indulging in a treat by Fryos food, or cooling down with Sistaz Tastee Treats then you were dancing the night away with DJ Troy. Join us on July 1st for the next Food Truck Festival.
RECAP Wear Orange March for Gun Violence |May 30, 2022
"End Gun Violence!! How Many More? No More!"

The city of Plainfield said a huge NO to gun violence on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Spearheaded by the Fourth Ward Councilwoman Terri Briggs-Jones, marchers walked peacefully through the streets of Plainfield to protest the gun violence that is sweeping the nation. The march, which was part of the larger Wear Orange weekend, was put together to honor the lives of those affected by gun violence and elevate gun violence prevention in Plainfield.
They were joined by the Moms Demand Action coalition and several community leaders.

Chants filled with frustration, the need for change, and the desire for peace, echoed the streets of our Queen City as our community marched from Plainfield Performing Art Center to City Hall. The names of the innocent souls lost during the shooting at Robb Elementary School were spoken out loud to honor their passing. Assemblywoman Linda Carter, County Commissioner Rebecca Williams, Council President Barry Goode, Council Vice President Charles McRae, Councilman Steve Hockaday, and Councilwomen Terri Brigg-Jones, Joylette Mills-Ransome, and Ashley Davis attended.

"It is in our coming together that our voices will be heard. Our strength lies in uniting and amplifying our voices until they can no longer be ignored. This is critical and vital because to influence change we are stronger as a unit than as individuals. United we stand strong against those who believe that their right to bear arms trumps our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness." said Mayor Adrian O. Mapp
