Learning to Rely On and Trust in Him

This week’s message helped us reflect on the times when we felt empty, discouraged, or even defeated. During these times, did we turn to God? Or did we try to fill the void by shopping, impulse buying, overeating, or attempting to drink our hurt, disappointment, or problems away?

As tempting as these things might be, we must remember that instead of turning to these temporary fixes, we must turn to God, who surrounds us with his love and grace and provides comfort, strength, and perspective. We must choose, rely on, and use our faith over temporary solutions. Then, we must learn to trust God's guidance rather than relying on temporary and potentially harmful coping mechanisms.

We must learn to trust in God's plan, remember the promise of God being ever-present in our lives, and allow him to guide us through times of trouble. We must rely on our faith in challenging times for comfort and guidance. When we turn to him, let’s ask him to fill our hearts with love, hope, peace, joy, contentment, strength, and resiliency. Then, let’s ask him to transform us and help us grow. Let’s ask him to change our attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives, leading to greater maturity, compassion, and understanding.

Let’s open our eyes to witness all he does in our lives. Pastor David reminded us that when we open our eyes, we see that we are the truth that God exists. We are here because of God. We are his creatures, and now we have eternal life through the sacrifice of his son. How amazing is this? Let’s take time to acknowledge the countless blessings he bestows on us and give thanks with grateful hearts.
