A WORD

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.”
John 1:1-4

Do you have a word to share with someone that will bring light to them? Sometimes the hardest person to share a light-bringing word with is the person closest to you. As you are together so often and do so many things together and get caught up in doing the things on the ever-growing “to-do” list, we may not even realize that the person closest to us may need just a little bit of light from the Word of God given to them from us. Just hearing even the smallest word of blessing can be uplifting.

Does it need to be a Scripture verse? Scripture verses are wonderful! Scripture verses inspire. “All Scripture is inspired by God…” (2Tim 3:16). Scripture verses have their time and place. Sometimes, a plain, simple, kind word is all that is necessary. “Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body” (Proverbs 16:24)

Are we asked by God to share his Word with the world? Yes! How do we do that? Simply! Every time you smile at someone or share a kind word with a stranger; or share a kind word with those close to you, you are sharing God’s light and love with the world.

Almighty God, You are supremely powerful! Yet, through so simple an act as the speaking of a kind word to someone else, you reach out and touch that person’s soul with your light and love. Help us, O Lord, to speak your words of kindness to everyone; and spread your light and love throughout the world. Amen.
