Florida Atlantic Celebrates 10 Years Of ‘Match Day’

It was a “perfect 10” for Florida Atlantic University’s  Schmidt College of Medicine as they celebrated 10 years of “Match Day” with the class of 2024. During the special ceremony, soon-to-be-physicians matched for residency placement in post-graduate training programs. “You are stepping into a legacy of medical excellence, bearing the torch of innovation and compassion that defines the Schmidt College of Medicine,” said Curtis L. + Graduate Medical Education

We extend a warm welcome to our newest residents in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Psychiatry, and Neurology. Your journey leading up to this moment has been nothing short of remarkable, and we are thrilled to have you join our team. Here's to the beginning of a rewarding and impactful residency experience for each of you!

Disaster Day Simulation

On March 5th, Emergency Medicine residents engaged in a disaster day simulation involving a mock car bombing and simulated shooting incident. Approximately 50 standardized patients assumed the roles of victims in these distressing scenarios, requiring the residents to navigate the ensuing chaos and administer treatment. This training offers valuable hands-on experience in disaster response, allowing residents to practice how to manage a crisis. By exposing themselves to these simulated situations, residents prepare for potential occurrences in their medical careers, using their skills taught throughout residency to triage and prioritize care for the most critically injured patients. While they hope never to face such events, they train diligently to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively care for the community should the need arise.
