Message from the Executive Director

Never is the need for energy resilience more top of mind than when the mercury rises here in North Carolina. Summer brings the heat—both literally and metaphorically—when it comes to ensuring that we have reliable, affordable energy for the residents and businesses of North Carolina.

In our recent Cleantech Catalyst, a great group of colleagues braved the heat to learn and connect about transmission needs and technologies and the critical role transmission infrastructure plays in building our clean, resilient energy future. Up next, we are excited to present a special ESG-focused RTCC Cleantech Spotlight on August 15 along with our friends at Essense Partners.

As always, we are grateful to all of you doing the important work needed to truly transform the way we generate and move the electrons we all need for healthy communities and a vibrant economy, here in North Carolina and beyond. We encourage you to recognize and celebrate your work by submitting a nomination for a 2023 Cleantech Innovation Awards! Award nominations will be accepted through September 15 and the awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 16 at the SAS Institute in Cary, N.C. We look forward to celebrating these incredible achievements in cleantech together this fall.

In the meantime, please reach out to the RTCC team to connect about your work and learn how we can continue to drive cleantech transformation through collaboration.

- Dr. Deb Wojcik

RTCC Cleantech Spotlight: Five Ways to Maximize ESG Value

Tuesday, August 15

2:00 - 4:00 P.M.

Frontier RTP - Building 800

ESG is a large and encompassing concept that can be easily misunderstood and difficult to navigate. However, engaging with an environmental, social, and governance framework is ultimately about tracking and managing your operational costs, defining your corporate culture, and creating a management structure that mitigates risk and fosters innovation. When used in these ways, E, S, and G metrics can help grow your business, enhance performance, and increase your company's value.

Join the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster for this Cleantech Spotlight event as we unpack what ESG means for you and your business and hear how cleantech companies and RTCC members are navigating their own ESG journeys.

The event will feature:

  • Wesley Holmes, Chief Innovation Officer at Essense Partners
  • Linda Palmer, Vice President of Media Relations & Issues Management at Xylem
  • Natalie Silva, Strategic Marketing Manager - Critical Power Industries at ABB
