This September, we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the historical repeal that ended the controversial policy that allowed LGBTQ service members to serve only if they kept their sexual orientation secret. The Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) Repeal Act of 2010 is a landmark United States federal statute enacted in December 2010, effective September 2011, that ended the discriminatory policy, allowing gay, lesbian, and bisexual people to serve openly in the United States Armed Forces.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: As part of the celebration, CalVet will recognize and honor several California LGBTQ veterans who significantly impacted their communities. Please consider nominating a deserving veteran by filling out the Nomination Form HERE. Submission deadline is September 6, 2021 to minorityveterans@calvet.ca.gov.
