Tackling the Benefits Cliff-Free Webinar August 3
Both employers and workers across Ohio have been plagued by the situation known as the "benefit cliff", which occurs when lower-income workers move up the income scale but then fall outside of the eligibility range for federal and state support programs. A new "Employment Incentive Program" has been created that will provide cash stipends to help offset reductions in public assistance benefits to participants that achieve certain benchmarks. This will put beneficiaries on a path to self-sufficiency and success and improve the ability of employers to hire workers to meet their business needs and remove impediments to advancing or promoting valuable employees.

So that employers and local officials can learn more about this new statewide program, we are hosting a free, virtual information session on Tuesday, August 3 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Attendees will learn about:
·   The pilot program in Allen County that served as the model for the state;
·   How the Employment Incentive Program can be copied in other parts of Ohio;
·   The program as approved in the state budget through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services;
·   Real-life examples of how this program will benefit employees and employers.

There will be time for questions and answers.

Speakers include:
·   Jed Metzger, President & CEO of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce
·   Joe Patton with Allen County OhioMeansJobs
·   Kara Bertke-Wente with Ohio Department of Job & Family Services
·   Representatives Gary Click and Dontavius Jarrells
Justin Barnes, Executive Director of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce Research Foundation will moderate

This Month in Public Health-Seneca County Health Dept.
Click here for the current edition of This Month in Public Health, which provides a timely COVID-19 update for local media, residents, elected officials, and organizations, etc., in Seneca County.
  • It contains updated recommendations from the CDC based on what we’re learning about the Delta variant of the virus that causes COVID-19. This variant is MUCH more contagious than previous variants. (Fortunately, we currently have low levels of transmission in Seneca County.)
  • Vaccination is the most effective way to get through the pandemic quickest. For those who want to “get one and be done”, it’s URGENT to get your dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine NOW. Current stock of this vaccine in Ohio is set to expire August 6 (next Friday), and we don’t know if/when we’ll be able to get more.
