Dear Pine Lane Crew,
Wow! The weeks are flying by! We are so thankful to have been able to continue in in-person learning through this semester with only a few quarantines. You all have been amazing in helping ensure this is maintained by keeping your children home when they are sick and collaborating with our nurse and health assistants when things arise.
So much learning continues to unfold at Pine Lane! Kindergarten has learned about the word “Oviparous” as they experienced the hatching of chicken eggs. They are adorable, both the chicks and the kindies. 6th grade has begun to better understand physics, manage a project, and the process of design through bridge building. 5th grade is working on their reading and writing skills by exploring biodiversity in the rainforest. 3rd grade is exploring the water cycle and sustainability. We also have some award winning writing in our Discovery program, earning 1st place honors for the Fall 2020 InvestWrite competition. There is so much more and I hope that our instruction at Pine Lane is becoming a topic at your dinner table. We want our Crew to be excited about what they are learning and eager to share with everyone around them.
You also never know when the unexpected will happen. Today, we lost water for about an hour and half due to a water main issue. Huge thank you to our teachers and students for their calm and patience during this event. And, thank you for the quick response of district leadership, security, and our maintenance department to support and prepare for various scenarios. We are so glad that water was restored quickly and we were able to avoid an early dismissal.
Please be aware of a few dates. The week of May 3rd is Teacher Appreciation week. May 4th, we are excited to hold another McTeacher Night at the Crown Crest location. Our final SAC/PTO meeting will be May 12th. PLUM for 6th Grade is during the week of May 17th. Virtual Kindergarten Graduation is May 24th. And our last day of school is May 25th. Continue to watch for communications for your teachers for anything pertinent to your child’s class.
Please remember that if you need anything as we finish out the year, be sure to contact our main office. We are happy to help you with anything and will help you get connected with the right people if we cannot.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Chris Stairs
