The Culinary Tourism Alliance works with communities to grow food tourism by leveraging the history, heritage, and culture behind the food and drink that makes each destination unique.

As part of the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to explore how understanding and telling your unique 'food story' can help attract customers to your business and the region. You will learn to identify different types of culinary tourists; identify opportunities to generate increased visitor demand; and look at some good practices and grassroots marketing tactics for attracting foodies to Durham Region.

Durham Tourism Strategic Plan Survey

Edge Development in Commercial and Industrial Sectors Sees Growth in Small Urban Areas
There’s lots of talk about a commercial building boom in the centre of megacities such as the Greater Toronto Area, but big things are also happening at the edges. Edge development—the construction of new commercial and industrial facilities at the fringes of megacities—is not necessarily new, but it’s experiencing a resurgence in many urban areas. Read where this is happening in Durham Region.
 
10th Porsche Experience Centre to be Built in Pickering.
The future “Porsche Experience Centre Toronto”—only the tenth in the world and third of its kind in North America after Atlanta and Los Angeles—will be located on a 20-acre site at the “Durham Live” development in Pickering, Ontario. It will feature over 400,000 square feet of retail space, a casino, a concert hall, and a luxury hotel with more than 300 rooms in the future. The PEC Toronto is slated to open by 2024.
 
New Green Tech Hub Announced: EaRTH District
As the global climate crisis accelerates, Centennial College, University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), Ontario Tech University, Durham College and Trent University have joined together to advance clean, green, sustainable solutions, such as net-zero vertical farming and technology to reverse groundwater pollution. Recently, they launched the Environmental and Related Technologies Hub (EaRTH District) in the eastern GTA region.
