2nd Sunday of Easter April 7, 2024

Welcome to St. Laurence

Halleluiah! Christ is Risen!

Please join us this Easter season, as we rejoice in the mystery of Christ’s presence. With the disciples, we wonder, we doubt, we rest in the Spirit, and experience transformation.

Stay for coffee and community afterwards, then join us for Conversations with Laura Karlsson, who will share about her work with Medical Mercy.

Some Good News! We have resolved the issues with our Hearing Assist equipment, and it is ready for you to use. As well, the sound system has been reviewed and rebalanced. We have also addressed the live-streaming issues, and hope to have resolved that as well.

CONVERSATIONS

Conversations

Join us each week in the Sunshine Room at 11:20 for reflection on theology, spirituality, and current events.

This week in Conversations: Laura Karlsson will share about her work with Medical Mercy. Medical Mercy will be the recipient of this year’s Easter Offering.

Our Easter Offering will go to Medical Mercy Canada for their work in Ukraine.

MMC provides both financial and medical aid to the Ukraine. Supplies have been accepted and distributed by MMC designated on site managers to medical clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. Since the conflict in Ukraine began, support has been given to the Ukrainian people through financial aid and medical supply deliveries. Supplies and funds also support the many displaced people who have made it to western Ukraine. A portion of funding previously designated toward infrastructure projects has been redirected to provide immediate aid to camps and villages.

For more information, speak to St Laurence member Laura Karlsson, who is Vice President of Medical Mercy, or go to the website at https://medicalmercycanada.com/

Easter envelopes are available on the counter in the lobby

A Faith of Many Rooms: Inhabiting a More Spacious Christianity

by Debie Thomas

Debie Thomas writes both memoir and theological reflection about her journey to a faith that is spacious, and where she belongs.

Thomas knows what a cramped faith feels like, what it's like to wrestle your way out of fundamentalism and toward a more capacious faith. From the diasporic church in which she grew up, which traces its lineage to the doubting disciple in India in the first century, to the disorientations of a deconstructing faith, to an ample yet orthodox Christianity that makes room for all her identities, Thomas takes readers on a deeply personal and profoundly theological odyssey.”
