Summer Happenings
Celebrate summer with us at the National Arboretum! We're collaborating with lots of local partners to host exciting activities and events, including:
WYG 50th Birthday Party
Saturday, June 11 | 11 AM - 1:30 PM
A free, family-friendly event in the Washington Youth Garden. Enjoy hands-on activities, connecting with WYG staff and participants from the past and present, and birthday cake. Registration is preferred but not required — let us know you're coming.

WYG 50th Evening Benefit
Sunday, June 12 | 5:30 PM - 8 PM
A casual fundraiser toasting those instrumental to Washington Youth Garden's 50 years of success and raising money for its future. Enjoy cocktails, dinner, and a vermouth tasting from a past WYG participant. Registration is required for this event.

Juneteenth in the Garden
Sunday, June 19 | 12 PM - 2 PM
Celebrate Juneteenth with food and music in WYG. Learn from Chef Daoud Harris of Six Street Eats in a garden-to-table cooking demonstration, and explore the African diaspora crops growing in the garden. Registration is required for this free event.

Summer 5K
Saturday, June 25 | 9 AM
Enjoy the National Arboretum's summer splendor while you're running or walking the 5K course. Strollers and dogs are allowed, but dogs must stay on a five-foot non-retractable leash. Registration is required for this event.

Movie in the Meadow: Calamity
Wedneday, July 13 | 9 PM - 10:30 PM
Grab your picnic blankets and lawn chairs and join us for an outdoor showing of Calamity, held in partnership with the French Embassy. This family-friendly animated film follows a family's journey through the 19th century American West and explores the nature and wildlife of the Great Plains. Registration is preferred but not required — let us know you're coming.

U.S. Navy Band Summer Concert
Wednesday, August 10 | 7 PM - 8:30 PM
Enjoy an evening in the Ellipse Meadow while you listen to music from the U.S. Navy Band's Concert Band and watch the full moon rise over the Capitol Columns. You are welcome to bring your own picnic, but no outside alcohol is allowed at this event. Registration is preferred but not required for this free event — let us know you're coming.

Yoga
Sundays during the Summer | 10 AM - 11 AM
Find your flow and get grounded in the Grove with Bluebird Sky Yoga. All levels are welcome! Registration is required for this event.

Forest Bathing Walks
June to August | Various dates and times
Let us guide you in disconnecting from the digital world and reconnecting with nature during this mindfulness experience. Registration is required for this event.

New Faces at FONA
We're excited to welcome new seasonal staff members to FONA's team!

In Washington Youth Garden, Mariyah Whitley joins us as a Garden Assistant Coordinator and James Crawford as a Garden Assistant. Both are former WYG Green Ambassadors and bring years of experience to their roles.

Breyonna Evans and Stephanie Mui join us as Venue Rentals Coordinators to help our weddings and corporate events run smoothly.

Benedict Payne joins us as a Recreation Program Coordinator to support and coordinate recreation and visitor programs.
The Arboretum is open every day from 8 AM to 5 PM except December 25th. Some buildings and collections remain closed to ensure visitor and staff safety.
