What we have been up to:

  • I2D2 is proud to partner with Early Childhood Iowa to produce the 2022 ECI Annual Report. This report monitors statewide indicators of children and family well-being in Iowa. County-level indicators can also be found on the Iowa Data Drive.

  • I2D2 is pleased to welcome a new member to our team! Taylor brings valuable experience in public health, policy, and non-profit management to her new position as I2D2's new Program Coordinator. Welcome, Taylor!

In a recent survey of Iowa families with young children, over 50% of families rated adequacy of substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, domestic violence support, and mental health services as "low".

Over 80% of home visitors and families surveyed after the implementation of the Phones for Families program said they would choose a hybrid of in-person and virtual visits even after the pandemic. This provides programs with the opportunity to assess what curricula might be best suited to in-person vs. virtual delivery and how they can continue to connect with more families.

Using Maps to Inform Decisions about child Care and Early Education - this tool from the Office of Planning, Research & Evaluation helps improve local leaders' understanding of their local context and support decisions about strategies to improve access. I2D2 support local Iowa decision-makers by providing county-level early childhood indicators in the IA Data Drive.

Working without Support: Texas Early Childhood Educators Lack Access to Benefits - This brief from Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center examines a Texas case study of early childhood workers and their access to benefits. I2D2 considers work like this and previous work in Iowa to inform the ongoing Iowa Workforce Study.

  • We will soon be releasing data briefs from the Iowa Workforce Study and the Early Childhood Iowa Longitudinal Study. Stay tuned for more information!
