Movie Night

The Christian Education Committee invites you (young, young at heart, with or without your teddy bear, p.js, and pillow) to Family Movie Night! On Friday, April 19th at 6:30 pm, in the Fellowship Hall. The movie we will be showing is Inside Out. This movie is about 11-year-old Riley who moves to a new city, her Emotions team up to help her through the transition. Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness work together, but when Joy and Sadness get lost, they must journey through unfamiliar places to get back home. Snacks and drinks will be available. We ask that all children be accompanied by an adult.

Mark your calendars

Music Variety Night: this annual event featuring solos, instrumentals, groups, and our Choir, will be held Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome! Free will offering to support our ongoing music ministry.

Leadership Team Tidbits

The Leadership Team met on March 19th, here are some highlights from the meeting updating you on progress and other information from the meeting.

  • The Search Team has received applications from prospective ministerial candidates. Interviews are coming up in the near future.

·

  • The church financials indicate our income has decreased in the year's opening, BUT, our expenses are down so we remain in a good financial position moving forward.

·

  • “Helping Hands,” a longtime user group of the church requested the LT to increase their use of our facility from one day/week to three. This has been happily approved.

·

  • The LT approved the purchase of a new portable data projector for church-wide use. It will be Wifi and Bluetooth compatible. No cords are needed.

·

  • The LT seeks interested congregation members to sit on the Mission and Service Committee and the Membership and Fellowship Committee.

·

The Leadership Team continues to meet on the third Tuesday of each month.

Art in the Christian Tradition

An invitation to share your faith and how you are called to serve in art form

Saturday, June 8

Mount Forest United Church

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Art can be a catalyst for community engagement and also can demonstrate how we serve God. We are also drawn closer to God through art.  Art takes many forms. If you have ever visited Woodland, you will see the beautiful banners displayed in the sanctuary and created by Linda Harris. You might be a photographer with a collage of photos that depict your involvement with our refugee families. Perhaps you are a quilter, a woodworker, or a stained glass artist.

Start thinking about what you might like to display – and get creative!

The event will be open to the public and will include a strawberry tea.

The event is being coordinated by Patty Sinnamon. Patty is seeking helpers to coordinate the Art Show and helpers for the strawberry tea. For more information please contact Patty at psinnamon61@gmail.com.
