Pennsylvania System Of School Assessment
(PSSA)
This week all third, fourth and fifth grade students will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned this year by taking the Mathematics PSSA. The test is two modules. One will be given each morning: Monday and Tuesday.

Additionally, all fourth grade students will also take the Science PSSA on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Please make sure your child is well-rested and eats a good breakfast each day. The PTO has provided snacks for our scholars to keep their brains fueled throughout testing.

Make-up exams will be given following the original testing days.

Any questions about state testing can be directed to Mrs. Palladino through email at cpalladino@pdsd.org

Pennell Power Player
Award Winner
Ms. Cardwell was nominated by a family in her class as an All-Star Teacher of the Year.
As a result, she is being recognized as a Phillies 10 All-Star Teacher of 2022 this Friday, 5/6, at the game. Ms. Cardwell and the family will be invited onto the field to be celebrated. We are so proud of her. If you have the opportunity, please go to the game and cheer for Ms. Cardwell as she represents kind, passionate, and hard-working educators. We are #PennDelcoProud of her.
Autism Awareness
We See You
Pennell's Autistic Support teachers finished out awareness month strong. John Michael Crosby III, from Mrs. Lafferty's class, shared facts about Autism over the morning announcements. All students and staff were encouraged to wear an Autism Awareness shirt or a white shirt to show support for our friends on Friday. Finally, in the afternoon, Mrs. Wiley led the entire school in blowing bubbles together as a symbol of unity. Students were read a story about a child with Autism who was non-verbal but who was able to make a connection with his peers through blowing bubbles together.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
5/2-5/6
Be sure to thank a teacher or other staff member for their dedication, hard-work, and for the love they show our children every day. The PTO and Penn-Delco administration will be showing all of our staff how much we appreciate them this week!
Absence Notes
Just a reminder about excused absences. When students are absent, in order to have that absence excused, parents or guardians must provide a signed excusal note within 3 days of returning to school, notes can be submitted in paper form or electronically. Excusal notes received from doctors are automatically excused. Our attendance policy can be found on the Pennell web site and in the Pennell Handbook.
Clearances
Please remember to have your clearances updated and on file if you are visiting the school. As spring approaches, field trips may be on the horizon. Updated clearances are needed for any chaperones. Also remember to have a valid ID to present if visiting Pennell. Mrs. Howley and Mrs. Grosso in the front office are more than happy to assist and let you know if you have up-to-date clearances on file.
Technology Support
A refresher on how to access Schoology or Skyward is available at pdsd.org. These sites, along with the district webpage, help you stay connected to our school and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or myself.
Temporary bus changes require bus change forms
Is your child taking a different bus for any reason? Please inform your school principal if your child is riding home on a different bus to visit a friend or perhaps heading to a sitter. Your child's safety is our main goal . Use a bus change form whenever your child is not taking their usual bus. Get a bus change form here.
