For the first time since 2011, Congress has reinstated member-directed spending, commonly known as congressional earmarks. Because of this change, members of Congress now have the opportunity to direct about $15 billion toward projects in their home districts. ICYMI: $5,000 Artist Fellowships to be Awarded in Literary Arts: Poetry
The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) has announced the opening of its 2021-2022 Artist Fellowship program, this year highlighting Literary Arts, and most specifically, POETRY. All eligible Virginia-based poets are encouraged to apply.
Five (5) Artist Fellowships in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded by the Commission to recognize the creative merit of individual Virginia artists and to support their pursuit of artistic excellence. The application deadline is October 1, 2021, at 5 PM

Virginia Humanities has announced the guidelines and deadlines for application to their SHARP grants. The program will help support the recovery and revitalization of museums, libraries, archives, historic sites, and other nonprofits impacted by the pandemic in Virginia.

Wallace Foundation Announces Initiative and Funding for Organizations of Color
The Wallace Foundation, this week, announced a five-year plan and $53M in investments and dedicated strategies to support organizations of color.
Aimed at fostering equitable improvements in the arts, the initiative begins with this guiding question:
Facing strategic challenges, how do arts organizations of color leverage their experience and community orientation to sustain their relevance and increase their resilience?

USArtists International Offers Grants for Virtual Performances
USArtists International supports performances by U.S. dance, music, and theater solo artists and ensembles invited to perform at important cultural festivals and performing arts marketplaces anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories.
This grant program has recently expanded to accept applications for virtual performances (live streamed or pre-recorded) at eligible international festivals. USArtists International grantees reflect the vibrant diversity of U.S. artists and creative expression in the performing arts.
