Project Update: Oakland County, Michigan RainSmart Rebates Program
The Center for Watershed Protection partnered with Oakland County, MI to support the development of the RainSmart Rebates Program. This pilot program aims to promote environmental stewardship and help homeowners manage stormwater by offering a one-time rebate for installing stormwater practices like rain gardens, rain barrels, and trees on their property. CWP conducted interviews and research to develop program recommendations and technical specifications for the types of stormwater practices funded through the program. Additionally, CWP developed an online system using GIS technologies to power the collection, assessment, and implementation tracking of RainSmart Rebates projects.
