HECK-JONES OFFERING

As we welcome June and the beginning of summer, I am reminded of the welcome that is provided to refugees in our city through the ministries of Welcome House. Refugees find open arms and hearts as they begin a new life free from war and torture. These services are more important now than ever with the continuing war in Ukraine.
Our hearts are saddened and we wonder what we can do. Kim and Marc Wyatt, CBF Missionaries, know what to do; but they need our offerings to keep their houses open and their services to continue. Fannie Heck and Sallie Jones, FBC members in the 1800’s, knew what to do as well; but they needed financial help from our congregation to do their work. Please give generously to this offering that was named in their honor as we do our part to meet the needs of those around us. In addition to the Welcome House, this offering will also go to our continuing partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Every gift helps no matter how big or small. Together we can make a difference in the lives of many.

NEW MEMBERS

On Sunday, June 5, we welcomed Nathan Bacon and Dylan Tucker into the fellowship of our congregation. Nathan and Dylan both joined by profession of faith, seeking baptism. Welcome, Nathan and Dylan!
JUNE MISSION PROJECT

In light of the ongoing baby formula shortage, we will collect a supply for Catholic Parish Outreach to give to their clients. Only milk-based formula is needed not soy-based. Any brand is acceptable and any type (ready-to-feed, mix-with-water, powder or liquid) is fine. Please place your donations in the marked drawer of the cabinet in the Lewis Lobby by the end of June.
CLOTHING MINISTRY UPDATE

The Clothing Ministry reopened to the community on Monday, June 6. We will begin accepting donations again this Sunday, June 12. As always, you may leave your donation bags in the bin by the parking lot doors. It greatly helps our volunteers if you can label your bags by gender and season. We are in desperate need of men's spring and summer clothing, so we would appreciate your help spreading that word to the community! Thank you for your continued support of this ministry.

Theology on Tap has returned, and we would love for you to join us! This dinner group meets on the third Thursday of the month, and will meet next on June 16 at Clouds Brewing (126 N West St.). All are welcome to join at 6pm for dinner, conversation and beverages!
JULY CHOIR PLANS

Like to sing? Like to have fun with a group? Like to try something different occasionally? Try singing with the choir for a day.

This summer, the Sanctuary Choir is moving practices to Sunday morning and invites you to join them!

On each of the final four Sunday mornings of July (July 10, 17, 24, & 31), our choir will gather at 9:05am for a 40-minute rehearsal of the music for that day only. Each week will be a different "one-and-done opportunity," as we prepare fresh music for presentation in that morning's worship. We'll pause for breakfast foods and Sunday School or more fellowship. After Sunday School, we'll reconvene to warm up and put on the finishing touches. Whether you've been in choir before or would like to join us for the first time, this is the chance for you! For further questions, email Warren.

UKRAINE RELIEF FUND

CBF has established a relief fund in response to the global crisis in Ukraine, following the Russian invasion last week. Twenty years ago, CBF commissioned Gennady and Mina Podgaisky to serve in Kyiv. They established Village of Hope a year later, and their ministry has flourished in collaboration not only with our partner congregations but Baptists and other Christians in Ukraine. The first funding commitment with any contributions received with this relief fund will be to provide resources to those served by Village of Hope. There are also local partners of that ministry that serve under the leadership of the Podgaiskys and CBF Global Missions. Beyond that, funding will be directed to The Baptist World Alliance Forum for Aid Development (BFAD), the international disaster response work of our partners at the Baptist World Alliance. They are working actively with Baptist leaders in Ukraine and others in that country to identify the most essential use of funds. Because the situation on the ground is changing rapidly, and the crisis is mounting, it is imperative that we give generously and support the work of trusted friends and partners, not only among CBF field personnel but in the Global Baptist community. Give here!
