Many gastrointestinal conditions have validated questionnaires to monitor response to therapy and changes in clinical symptoms over time. The authors of this study created a questionnaire for rumination based on feedback from both gastroenterologists and patients with rumination. The eight question questionnaire demonstrated improvement in five patients after intervention with diaphragmatic breathing.

There is increasing data on variation in practice patterns regarding benign esophageal conditions such as GERD, EoE, achalasia and Barrett’s esophagus. This review summarizes the currently used and evidence-based metrics for these esophageal conditions.
