This year's BGSU Firelands Small Business Symposium theme will be Taking Charge of Change! Change is the only constant - join us to find resources, tools, and community to take charge of change. We welcome our region's business owners and leaders for a day of hands-on learning, pitch performances, and a compelling keynote address.

Event Highlights

Keynote Speaker

The Keynote speech will be delivered by Andrea Flack-Wetherald, social worker turned comedian and #1 bestselling author of The Funny Thing About Forgiveness: What every leader needs to know about improv, culture and the world’s least favorite F word.

The central thesis of her work is that engaging two core activities with Mindful I mprov Thinking (confrontation and forgiveness) will pave the way for more joy, more connection, greater influence, better collaboration and more peace in the world.

Breakout Sessions
Multiple breakout sessions to choose from for additional learning, engagement, and networking. Breakouts will feature a range of themes and activities.

Student Pitches
Local student finalists from the RISE & NPESC Regional Pitch Challenge will be invited to perform their business elevator pitches at the Symposium. 

Lunch
Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the event.
