Hello First Branch!

Hello First Branch,

We hope everyone is getting through weekend storm okay. Our Friday night dance for our 5th-8th grade was a success thanks to all our parent support. We had a great time dancing with glow sticks, watching March Madness, eating snacks and enjoying a night together. Please see facebook for photos.

This week, we kick off state testing. Students need to hear just to do their best. To do this, we need students to get enough sleep at night, eat decent meals, and take time to unwind daily. Each day, First Branch provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack. We are also spreading testing out for our students and staff, so we have the staff on hand for needs. A lot goes into making this work each day, and we are grateful for all the hard work our testing coordinators Mrs. Karen Colby (CPS) and Mrs. Megan Weber (TCS)

  • school-age (6–13 years): 9–12 hours
  • teens (14–17 years): 8–10 hours

Art & Soul:

his Wednesday, First Branch heads to South Royalton to participate in Art & Soul. We are really excited about this. We have our entire 4th grade going and have some students from the middle school. We also have transportation for the evening event running from CPS and TCS with faculty support. Please reach out if your plans have changed and need to use the evening transportation. We have room for families too!

Fresh Fruit & Veg Grant is Back!

One of our favorite grants is back! Fresh fruit & Veg! This means snack and salad bars get more exciting because funding is coming in to expand our orders. Currently, as a district, we fund our daily fresh fruit & veg snacks, and this gives us Bring on the berries, pineapple, and occasionally dragonfruit!

Be Well,

What is your favorite thing about working at First Branch?

I like being involved in my community, for me, it works really well to live in Chelsea and teach at First Branch.

What do you want people to know about your job?

Libraries are about more than just reading and checking out books. On any given week you may find us reading, painting, researching, making books, and much more.

If you have not had a chance to check out our Year of the Dragon collage in the downstairs hallway, stop by! We worked really hard as a group for a few weeks to put it together. While we were creating we shared about other cultures, traditions, food and our love of dragons. We are really proud of our work and we really appreciate all of the ways that Ms. Courtney and our Art and Garden Club have transformed the hallway.

Next week we will share some updates from our CPS One Planet program!

The Chelsea Farmers Market seeks local K-8 student artists to submit hand-drawn designs for the market's 50th anniversary t-shirt contest!
