Greetings from

March 27, 2024

Here's a quick look midweek to strengthen your faith and connect with your CBF family.

Psalm 70 (v.5)

A Wednesday of Holy Week Reflection

But I am poor and needy;

hasten to me, O God!

You are my help and my deliverer;

O Lord, do not delay!

The world is a painful and treacherous place. Its needs are urgent and overwhelming. Yet God has not given us Psalm 70 so that we can adopt it hastily and force deliverance from our own trials. We have it to remember the trials and the vindication of the ONE broken for us. We pray Psalm 70 rightly as participants in Christ's sacrificial body and blood. When our own humiliations and sufferings find their place in his atoning death, when we are willing to acknowledge that we might be among the very enemies we are praying against, when we seek him in his beatific poverty and are glad in his great victory, and when our most urgent request is that he come quickly to judge the living and the dead, then we are its true psalmists.

PRAYERS FOR CUBA

Would you join me in praying for our Cuban family and friends as they deal with uncertainty and struggles?

God, please provide for our Cuban neighbors an abundance of peace and provisions.   We ask that you allow our prayers to find their way into the hearts of our friends and family so they may feel and sense our love and support.   Amen.

Worshiping with Beacon Hill Fellowship.

Beacon Hill Fellowship is a true community. This church family consists of both CBF Baptists AND PC USA Presbyterians. They've been together so long they don't even refer to their denominations. Led by Tim Sizemore for the past 17 years, BHF is known for speaking through their hands and feet across Polk County. Tim's message from Mark 11:1-11 this past Sunday confirmed their commitment to making other peoples lives better. Tim reminded us of this. "The greatest of all is the servant of all. Jesus' life clearly shows us that true greatness is not to be in charge but to be in service to others. Amen!

Meet our Presenters...

Trina Harris

Under Executive Director,Trina Harris' guidance, TML offers holistic youth and family development programs, instilling hope, providing opportunities, and equipping them with essential resources. Trina's innate ability to connect with and motivate others has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s success and positive impact.

Francis & Missy Ward-Angalla

In 2019, Amani Sasa opened it’s doors to provide holistic, wrap-around services for refugees in Kampala. Over the years, the mission has grown and expanded. Refugees who have come to Amani Sasa for assistance, have become staff! Today, Amani Sasa serves over 450 families per year. God has transformed thousands of lives through Missy and Francis' vision.

Ellen & Rick Burnette

In 2017, Rick and Ellen Burnette founded Cultivate Abundance to address the needs of low income migrant farm workers in Immokalee, FL. Despite growing a significant amount of America's winter tomatoes and other produce, these workers experience food insecurity at a disproportionate rate. Immokalee is considered a food desert, which makes it difficult for these hardworking individuals to access nutritious and affordable food.

Jason Coker

As president, Jason leads Together for Hope, CBF’s rural development coalition which focuses on the 301 counties of persistent rural poverty in the United States and has four priorities of hope: education, health & nutrition, housing & environment, and social enterprise.

As a church partner, individual partner, or both with CBF Fl/CI you are a part of something much greater! Join us as we celebrate our collaboration with 4 very special mission partners. Hear their life-giving stories, encounter their journeys, and find out how you can literally experience and impact their God-given communities.

We hope you will make plans to join us for the entire day as we grow through learning and worshiping together. The morning will be spent with Trina Harris – Touching Miami with Love, Rick and Ellen Burnette – Cultivate Abundance, Jason Coker – Together For Hope and Missy Ward Angalla – Amani Sasa, followed by lunch. We will end our day with a beautiful worship service featuring Francis Angalla as our worship leader and Rev Xiomara Reboyras as our proclaimer. We look forward to seeing you.

Registration Ends April 26, 2024. Cost is $15 for lunch. You may still register on-site the day of, but lunch may not be available.

Living Resistance: An Indigenous Vision for Seeking Wholeness Every Day by Kaitlin Curtice, 2023

In an era in which "resistance" has become tokenized, popular Indigenous author Kaitlin Curtice reclaims it as a basic human calling. Resistance is for every human who longs to see their neighbors' holistic flourishing. We each have a role to play in the world right where we are, and our everyday acts of resistance hold us all together.

Curtice shows that we can learn to practice embodied ways of belonging and connection to ourselves and one another through everyday practices, such as getting more in touch with our bodies, resting, and remembering our ancestors. She explores four "realms of resistance"--the personal, the communal, the ancestral, and the integral--and shows how these realms overlap and why all are needed for our liberation. Readers will be empowered to seek wholeness in whatever spheres of influence they inhabit.

This year’s theme, “Equipping With Every Good Thing,” is based on Hebrews 13:20-21: "Now may the God of peace … equip you with every good thing to do his will, by developing in us what pleases him through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory forever and always.” The Offering for Global Missions equips the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship with the gifts and passions of 46 Field Personnel in 17 different countries and the United States, spreading the hope of Jesus Christ. When you give to the Offering for Global Missions, you also participate in this mission of Jesus Christ around the world.

This year we have a goal of $4 million. Every gift helps us reach this goal to support the presence of Field Personnel.
