What will Sunday worship look like now that the mask mandate is lifted?
"Love your neighbor as yourself!" This directive from Jesus in Matthew 22 continues to guide us as a congregation responding to the challenge of COVID. The updated guidance from our team is as follows:
- East side pews will continue to be masked and distanced
- West side pews distancing and masks are now optional
- Live Stream will continue to be offered on YouTube
For children ages 2-11, we are requesting that face coverings be worn, if possible. Children's ministry volunteers continue wearing face coverings when serving children.
We welcome your feedback as we seek to love one another in Jesus’ name!

Helping Seniors Day- June 19
We are partnering with Senior Community Services. SCS is a nonprofit that helps seniors in Hennepin County stay safely in their homes. SCS will pair us with senior neighbors in need of help with yard work or house projects. We are planning to meet at 9:00am in the church parking lot to pray, and then go to the homes assigned to us for the day.
Yard and house work not your thing? Come help make encouraging cards at church for local seniors who receive Meals on Wheels.

Staff Retreat- June 22
Given our tumultuous year and Crosstown's effort to think about adaptive leadership and discern where the Holy Spirit is leading us, it's time for a staff retreat. John, Polly, Angie, Josh and Kristi are heading up north for a solitude retreat on Tuesday, June 22. Please pray for this time and the Holy Spirit's leading.
Also we need a sub in the office to welcome our NENA friends and volunteers as they prepare for distribution day. Please contact Kristi if you can help.

2022 UNITE/CHIC Cancelled
Unfortunately we have some sad news from the ECC for our current high schoolers. 2022 UNITE/CHIC (the postponed Unite 2021) has been cancelled and the ECC is reevaluating this ministry. Tim Ciccone, Director of Youth Ministry for the Covenant Church, requested that we "Pray that God inspires a new movement of the Holy Spirit in this emerging generation and that God gives us all a creative spirit to find new ways to participate with the spirit of God to help youth across the Covenant Church to find and follow Jesus." Here is a video from Tim with more information and a written letter at the Unite2022 website.

Adopt a Family Celebration!
I want to thank all those who adopted families in September for the Adopt a Family ministry this year! What a year we have had! The main purpose of Adopt a Family was to cover each family in prayer this school year. Adopters were also invited, if it worked, to bless their family with encouragement. Thanks to all of you for your dedication in prayer. I can share that there was some tension being on the receiving end of this ministry. There were times when I felt I had nothing to give back, and I felt bad about receiving. There were other moments when I was able to share a prayer request with our Adopters, and I felt so encouraged that the couple prayed for my kids along with me on hard days. I have learned that receiving is really hard when it feels one-sided. I have also learned that that's ok. It is ok to be blessed by others in hard times. And it's ok to ask for prayer support. A HUGE THANK YOU to our congregation for praying for and encouraging our families this year as they faced the many challenges! We are a family, and we belong to one another in Christ Jesus! -Polly

Nursery Opening- June 20
The nursery will be fully open for drop off on June 20, 2021. Crosstown's nursery is a safe and fun place for our children ages 3 and under to be loved while their parents participate in worship! All our volunteers will be masked at all times, and we welcome children to be brought into the nursery any time from 9:05-end of service. All our volunteers will have background checks!
|
Why are families in the nursery if it's not opened yet?
Until June 20th the nursery is a reserved space for a "soft opening" trial. We are working on adding a TV to the room to help volunteers and children participate in worship. The rooms are being updated and repurposed. One of the repurposing plans it to make specific space for the reimagined Galilee Gang. Yep, if your kiddos have aged out of the nursery we will have something for them soon, too!

|
Volunteers needed!
Do you find joy with babies and toddlers? Would you consider joining our team of nursery volunteers? Welcoming volunteers, 6th grade and up.
Also, welcoming opportunities as Nursery Assistants, open to 4th & 5th graders. Find out more information about volunteering here. Talk with or email Polly

SAVE THE DATE
