Greetings Ann,

It's hard to believe that the academic year is coming to a close. The many new experiences you've shared, the friendships you've made, and the flexibility and compassion that you've shown, are certain to be remembered for years to come. For those of you who are graduating, we wish you the very best and look forward to continuing to connect with you in the future. For those who will return next year, we are grateful for another year together. For all, please stay in touch. Wherever we may go, we are forever together as Buckeyes - O-H-I-O.

Faculty Spotlight

Benjamin McKean_0.jpg

Dr. Benjamin McKean

Department of Political Science

Dr. McKean shares how early involvement in an activist group while enrolled as an undergraduate at Harvard University led to full-time work as a national organizer for United Students Against Sweatshops. To gain a better understanding of how the global economy works and what a more just alternative could look like, he pursued a Ph.D. at Princeton University. His current research focuses on global justice, the populist movement that rose from the 2008 financial crisis, and the relationship between politics and ideas. Dr. McKean teaches courses in peace studies, global justice, political theory, 20th century political thought, and the politics of evil. The College of Arts and Sciences Student Council recognized his commitment to teaching by selecting him to receive the 2021 Outstanding Teaching Award. Read more about Dr. McKean and how he helps students to think about words like "freedom," "democracy," and "justice."
