Dear valued member,

Around 1:30 p.m. today, and in close consultation with local authorities fighting the Bear Dance fire, LPEA shut off power to 5,000+ members in Bayfield and Ignacio. Our infrastructure is on top of the drop zone, so lines were de-energized to allow fire crews to drop water and retardant safely. The cause of the fire has not yet been identified.

LPEA crews were able to re-route power and restore all Bayfield residents by 2:20 p.m. Members in Ignacio are still out of power, which we will restore as soon as is safely possible given shifting fire conditions. For the latest updates on this rapidly evolving situation, visit our website.

If you have not already, sign up for LPEA's Outage Texting Service to report future outages and receive service restoration updates direct to your mobile phone.

You can also get live updates during outages on our outage map, and by following us on Facebook and/or Twitter.
